Militant attacks and bomb blasts have killed at least seven US-led troops and wounded several others in various parts of Afghanistan, NATO says

The US-led military alliance said four of its service members were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in the east.

The nationality of the soldiers and the exact location of the incident are still unknown.

The Western alliance said two more of its soldiers had been killed in separate attacks in southern Afghanistan on Friday.

It did not disclose further details of the deaths.

Meanwhile, the British Defense Ministry has reported the death of a UK soldier who was on patrol in southern Helmand Province.

At least 220 US-led troops have lost their lives in Afghanistan so far this year.

The death toll of the US-led forces in 2010 stood at 711, making the year the deadliest for foreign forces in Afghanistan since the start of the war.

According to official figures, more than 2,503 US-led soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since the invasion of the country in 2001.

NATO has admitted that the power of militants in Afghanistan is on the rise despite the presence of about 150,000 US-led forces in the war-hit country.

The rising number of foreign casualties has stoked opposition to the Afghan war in NATO member states as well as in other countries that have contributed troops to the mission.
