  • China 'will not match' US military power - general

China has no intention to match US military power, a top Chinese general has said.

Speaking in Washington, Gen Chen Bingde said America's armed forces remained far more advanced than China's despite considerable progress by China in recent years.

But Gen Chen warned that further US arms sales to Taiwan could damage US-China military relations.

China regards Taiwan as part of its territory.

It has vowed to use force against the island if it ever formally sought independence.

    'Gaping gap'
"China never intends to challenge the US," Gen Chen, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, said at the National Defense University during his week-long visit to the US.

"Although China's defence and military development has come a long way in recent years, a gaping gap between you and us remains."

But Gen Chen warned that US-Chinese relations would suffer if Washington again sold weapons to Taiwan.

"As to how bad the impact will be, it will depend on the nature of the weapons sold to Taiwan," he said.

Last year, Beijing cut off most military-to-military contacts with the US after Washington announced more than $6bn (£4bn) arms sales to Taipei.

Gen Chen's visit to the US has drawn a strongly favourable press in China - a signal of the importance that the Chinese authorities are now placing on better military ties, the BBC's defence correspondent Jonathan Marcus says.

But there should be no illusions, our correspondent says, as superficial harmony inevitably masks significant underlying tensions.

The aim of China's extensive military modernisation, he adds, is to extend its military reach well beyond its own shores and to potentially neutralise weapons systems where the US has a dominant advantage.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Impossible. The US, whether you like it or not, is on a whole different level when it comes to innovation, higher education, military, and economics. Things will change the day when the world begins applying en-masse to Chinese Universities. As of today, it's the complete opposite. The Chinese are doing whatever they can to attend MIT, Stanford, etc. China has a lot of work today. You can't judge a nation by it's GDP.

and Muslims hate Muslims. Even your Pakistan hates Muslims, that is why the Muslims of Pakistan supported the rape and massare of Muslims of bengladesh, does everything in your mind starts with Muslim and ends with Muslims, Muslim this and Muslim that, do you know Muslims kill Muslims or is that not important or are the freemasons doing it to cover-up the Muslims who do it for the fun or to go to heaven?

If the world hated Muslims, i.e take Britian for instance, you wouldnt be there right now expressing your non-sense so freely, you would have lashed 100 times for wearing a western shirt on a photograph in some desert.

Try to be abit open-minded instead of this "Closed Ghetto Minded" mentality.

Nobody cares if your Muslim or Not, I am sure if you ever went to a Muslim country right now, and asked a guy on the street for a box of fried chicken and chips, he would slap your face and spit on you, where is the Muslim love there eh?

America's economy is going down and hatred against them is increasing in the whole whole world. You will see one day, their own so called friends will turn their faces away from America.
