We should not be only discussing why Pakistan is banning Facebook because of the caricatures. We should also be discussing why this caricature topic is not going away.
The reason why this caricature topic is not going away is because Muslim reaction is exactly what the Western media wants and is getting.
They say: "Scratch a Mullah and you shall find Satan."
Muslim preaching and practice are at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Take this moment and reflect upon your own practice as Muslim. Are you doing your part to give a good impression of Islam?. Or, are you contributing to the mockery, whether directly or indirectly?
We are preaching peace and tolerance; however, at the slightest trial we fail miserably. Is it that we have lost touch with Islam? Or, is it that Islam is a joke, just like what everyone is saying, and they are proving their case by these kinds of mockery.
Boycotting Facebook might be good to show dissatisfaction, however it is not enough to send the message home. Our practices have to change. We have to follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet (saw). We have to show that following his footsteps (saw) can creating a healthy revolution that world needs.
I know that Islam is perfect. Therefore, it only leaves to question our behaviour.Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:
[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.
[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.
