Sadr calls rally to press for U.S. pullout

    Published: May 4, 2011 at 10:07 AM

BAGHDAD, May 4 (UPI) -- Iraqi cleric Moqtada Sadr Wednesday announced a rally to show his movement's strength and press for U.S. withdrawal.

The Sadr Front told al-Sumaria TV the May 23 gathering is meant to be peaceful, but threatened to resume operations by its military wing, the Mehdi Army, if American forces remain in Iraq beyond the end of this year.

That is the deadline set under a status of forces agreement signed in 2008, but some factions in Iraq have called for an extension.

The remarks, which included warnings of the increasingly volatile Middle East, follow renewed warnings by Moqtada al-Sadr that he would reactivate his militia if US forces extend their stay.

sadr is smart because he is on both sides of the fence. he participates in politics while having a military wing ready, like hamas and hezbollah. the taliban could learn some politics from these folks.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
