I was trying to avoid this thread but it’s getting too much. I can’t figure what the main issue here is. Is the cost and tax payers’ money an issue? Her dress the issue? Her background the issue? Or is Williams’s hair the issue? Only a couple of people so far have been appreciative of anything.
Regarding the cost and tax payers’ money, fair points, I’ve nothing to add.
Regarding her dress and tiara, well, the latter cannot be knocked by any standard. It’s a pure class item, a 1930-something Cartier at that, anyone who doesn’t like that tiara has bog-standard taste. Luckily Primark does plastic ones for a quid, so grab ‘em soon.
The dress, well there’s only so much a designer can do with the colour white/cream, a standard shape of dress/gown, and the essential veil and a trail. I liked the dress and up-close the dress is even more stunning. On the modesty issue, it’s modest for them so who are we to argue? I’ve seen far worse neck lines in Pakistan and Afghanistan alone, bosom and cleavage on show for all, not forgetting naked arms. This was by far more modest than the majority of Muslim bride outfits we see nowadays.
The Middleton’s are middle class no doubt, but she makes a fine Princess being just the way she is, unlike blue blooded Beatrice & Eugenie, and we’ve all seen Fergie’s antics so whatever Kate’s background is, she’s fits the bill better than the blue bloods themselves.
Besides all of that, it was a wedding of their choice and not anyone else’s, they did it their way and they’re happy with it. Our weddings are equally different and I’m sure it wouldn’t be their cup of tea. Anyone who has a problem with the way the wedding went has a deeper problem of their own.
