Karzai says no to US Permanent military bases

Karzai says no to US Permanent military bases | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online

Submitted 15 hrs 37 mins ago

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has refused to accept establishment of US permanent military bases in Afghanistan, Tolo News quoted Interior Minister as saying.
After the Afghan House of Representatives summoned security officials to brief the house on security situation which is being unprecedentedly worse in recent weeks. Interior Minister and Deputy Defence Minister appeared before parliamentarians to answer some security questions.
Speaking in the commission of domestic security affairs of parliament, Interior Minister Bismellah Mohammadi said currently the focus is more on strategic partnership between Kabul and Washington.
"Nobody accepts the discussion of US permanent military bases and the government also rejects it," Interior Minister Bismellah Mohammadi said.
During the briefing Deputy Defence Minister Enayatullah Nazari said more than 1820 insurgent groups are operating in Afghanistan that are related to bigger insurgent networks.
When asked about defence ministry assailant, Mr Nazari said "one thing is clear for us that the attacker couldn't have entered into the ministry without having a link within the ministry."
Last week on Monday Afghan defence ministry's main building came under attack from a would-be suicide bomber who was shot dead before detonating his explosive vest.
Two Afghan army soldiers along with an ANA officer were killed in the incident.
Once again Interior Minister emphasised that resolving security challenges wouldn't be viable until insurgent havens outside Afghan borders are not demolished.

Afghan Interior Minister Voices Opposition to US Permanent Mission
TEHRAN (FNA)- Afghan Interior Minister Besmellah Mohammadi announced his strong opposition to the establishment of permanent US military bases in his country.

"No one supports establishment of a permanent US base. Here the issue is strategic cooperation which will not be implemented without the parliament's agreement at all," Mohammadi told the Afghan parliament's Home Security Commission.

He also referred to the opposition voiced by Afghan President Hamid Karzai against the establishment of permanent US military bases in his country, and underlined that Karzai had already rejected such plans.

Mohammadi stressed that Loya Jirga, Afghanistan's Grand Council, is the only authority which should decide if any future strategic cooperation between Kabul and Washington is needed.

President Karzai has recently stated that America intends to establish permanent military bases in Afghanistan. The US has for long been eying on Kabul, Bagram, Kandahar, Shindad and Herat as its military bases. These places are being speedily fortified and modernized. However, resurgence of Taliban, war weariness, haywire economy and uprisings in Middle East and Africa are compelling America to call it a day.

Iran has many times urged withdrawal of foreign forces from the region, describing it as the only way to restore peace and tranquility in this part of the world.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in August that withdrawal of American forces from the region is the only way for US President Barack Obama to prove he is serious about implementing his campaign motto of change.

Ahmadinejad criticized his American counterpart for failing to realize his campaign trail promise of "change."

"They (the Americans) announced that they had pulled out part of their forces from Iraq in recent days and claimed that their move was in line with their slogan of 'change,'" Ahmadinejad said in August.

"You said you would withdraw all your troops from Iraq, why is it that some of them are still in this country? Secondly, where are you relocating your forces from Iraq?"

"Americans want to relocate their soldiers to Afghanistan. What kind of a change in their military policy is this?"

unfortunately, in this matter it doesn't matter what karzai thinks.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

This is real, and Bismillah even goes further, its up to them to decide if they even need strategic cooperation.

Now, no "conspiracy theories here" or no "its more complex than you think.' It is what it is.

Reconciliation and peace can only happen when the US leaves. The US presence is the barrier to peace and security in Afghanistan, and the region.

actually, yes, I do believe this. I think his complete opposition to the US-NATO is his redeeming act, and his way of serving in a useful manner to the Afghan people for the future. US-NATO is not what they used to be before, their operations against Libya has been called their swan song (the allusion means their last bet). Cutting of ties with them is not so difficult at all. Just look at Iraq. With the Afghan resistance power spreading across the Afghan nation, the moves have already been made. The game is over, they have lost. We can not doubt what Karzai has to offer, and what he has to offer is the network he has made to the world- the lack thereof which has put Afghanistan at a disadvantage for a long time, and allowed foreign aggressor to start failing wars with the Afghan people.

It is very very important to have a good relationship with China, Russia, and India. This will serve Afghanistan well. Once all that he has to offer is made use of, then it would be best for Afghans to decide whether he can stay or not.

This is a turning point. Afghans will not repeat history, as before. The Afghan resistance is primarily made up of drana pashtuns, and their word is a given, there is no denying this. When they say talks will happen once foreigners leave, they mean it. Everyone is taking them seriously, and no one is taking the US seriously anymore.

As I have said before, the barrier to peace, security, and prosperity in Afghanistan is the US presence.

Everything is moving in the favor of the Afghan nation, now.

                  InshAllah

this issue is about Afghanistan and you seem to be thinking it is some popularity contest and choosing a team or a player.
Above all it is about the public opinion of Afghans.

the network karzai has built is simply on behalf of american foreign policy. karzai has never acted independently of american policy in afghanistan, his entire government, army, economy, is dependent on american support. the guy cant even get the concrete blast protector barriers removed from kabul roads like he promised like 5 years ago let alone act like an independent leader.

when u say everyone is taking them seriously, who is everyone? and since when did anyone ever take the US seriously?
