Pashtuns were forcibly settled down in bengal by sher shah suri. Within few generations pashtuns diluted down in bengal and were unable to retain their identity unlike other pashtuns in india.

Afghans (Pashtuns) came to Bengal at different times. Isa Khan's grandfather was from the Sulaiman ranges of Afghankhwa/Pashtunkwa.

There were also the Karrani dynasty of Pashtuns who ruled Bengal.

The Afghan/Pashtun rulers of Bengal are remembered fondly as they intermixed with the local Bengalis more than the more arrogant Mughals (Hindustani-Turk hybrid). Pashtuns generally where they have gone have been hospitable and open minded in learning other people's languages and culture, e.g.

Pashtuns started speaking Saraiki in Mianwali.
          - Dari in parts of Afghanistan.
          - Urdu in India.

Isa Khan (rahmatullahi alaih) is considered a national hero of Bangladesh as evidenced by the articles I use from Banglapedia.

              Star Business Report

Leading software maker DataSoft has formed a UAE-based joint venture company, DataSoft Arabia LLC, bringing good news to Bangladeshi IT firms, officials said yesterday.
Mahboob Zaman, managing director of DataSoft, and Khamis Mohammed Buharoon, chairman of Burooj Properties of UAE, signed the agreement in Dhaka yesterday.
DataSoft owns a 49 percent stake in DataSoft Arabia, while the remaining stake belongs to three individual investors based in the UAE. Both sides plan to invest $10 million in the new venture in the next three years, Zaman said.
“The new company will start working on May 1,” said Zaman at a press conference.
Thanks to the agreement, DataSoft has gone global, said Zaman. He was exploring opportunities abroad when Gartner, an information technology research organisation, declared Bangladesh as an IT outsourcing destination among 30 countries.
He said the Middle East is a huge market for Bangladeshi IT firms that would create a lot of jobs for IT students. It will also create job opportunities for the Arabic language graduates of Bangladesh to work in the call centres of telecom and health services.
Buharoon said Bangladesh holds out bright hopes for investment. “Knowledge and experience will be shared by both the parties,” he said. Buharoon said he is interested to invest in Bangladesh’s power sector as well.
Zahid Hossain, a non-resident Bangladeshi staying in the Middle East for the last 30 years, worked for the new venture which he said would open doors to young Bangladeshis.
The prime focus of the company is to market products and services offered by DataSoft Systems in Bangladesh. The new venture will have the service delivery capability in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) area by localising DataSoft service solutions for the Arabian market in the banking and financial institutes, money market such as brokerage house, merchant bank, fund managers and portfolio investment solution.

Former Bangladeshi leader, Mujibur Rahman (Rahmatullahi alaih) with Emirati leader. Mujib was a Muslim nationalist during the British Raj and was a member of the All-India Muslim Students Federation. Later on in life he wanted a federal system in Pakistan which would have been loser than the federal system of the UAE with its constituent entities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and so on. However the US-backed military-feudal regime of Yahya Khan launched a massacre in East Pakistan.

The Muslim UAE is alleged to be providing support to the Muslim nation of Balochis against the US-backed military-feudal regime in Islamabad, with support to Muslim Balochi guerillas of the BLA.

Crown Prince Hassan's quiet visit to Dhaka
                  Jan 3, 2004, 19:25

Crown Prince Hassan bin Talal paid the short quiet visit to Dhaka to a personal homage to his sister-in-law Salma Sobhan, who died of a massive heart attack on Thursday. Princess Sarvath Hassan is the youngest sister of Salma. Another sister Naz also came to Dhaka on the occasion as Mr Rashed Suhrawardy, only son of Huseyen Shaheed Shurwardy and cousin of Sarvath and Naz. It was a happy reunion on a sad occasion.
The visit was extremely personal in nature so much so that usual photo sessions were not allowed. He was in public for a short time during the Janaza and the Qul Khwani which were attended by family members and close friends of the family. Among those who attended the Jananza were Mayor of Dhaka City Sadek Hossain Khoka, Dr. Kamal Hossain, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Dr. M Younus, Rashed Suhrawardy, Prof. Moniruzzaman Mian, Shah M S Kibria, M. Saiduzzaman, and others. Also present were Prof. Rehman Sobhan and members of his family. Prince Hassan, younger brother of late King Hussein of Jordan, is a family man but with deft fingers on world developments. Currently the President of Club of Rome, the well known think tank that assembles together worlds top brains including the Nobel laureates from 50 countries to discuss issues afflicting the humanity. Just two months ago, Prince Hassan spoke to, this august gathering on global peace.
Prince Hassan is an ace pilot himself-breaking sound barrier as early as early as 89 in his F5 fighter-like his late brother kind. When he came to Dhaka he came by his own private jet. Rashed Suhrawardy flew into Amman to join with the Crown Prince.
The Prince was full of praise of Salma, elder sister of his adoring wife, Sarvath. He said how he was proud of his association with the family. The Prince met his wife at their tender age and grew up together attending same school in London. It was hardly a secret that he was going to marry Sarvath Ikramullah, which was a celebrity news in the then Pakistan. When his mother-in-law, Begum Shaista Ikramullah died, it was considered a great loss to the royal family.
Prince Hassan is adept in dealing with events both private and public with great ease. In private he is an immutable family man, demonstrated so eloquently in small but touching family events be it a Nasrah ceremony of his to-be wife (in 1960) or time with three daughters-Rahma, Sumaya and Badiya. He would gallop in horse with his nephew-now King-and son Prince Rashid. This may have come naturally to him and the bonds between the three brothers with the eldest-King Hussein-only demonstrated. There was hardly any important occasion, private or public, that late King of Jordan did not consult with him. Even the present King respects his quiet uncle on whose shoulder he loved to jump and never forgets to consult him on important occasions. Sources in Dhaka said Prince Talal hoped that he would have longer time here. Surely the people of Dhaka will look forward to the visit.

Salma was educated at Westonbirt School in England and studied law at Girton College, Cambridge, in 1958. She was called to the Bar from Lincoln's Inn in 1959 and became the first Pakistani woman barrister. She began working with a law firm in Karachi. After her marriage she moved to Dhaka, where her husband taught economics. She also began teaching at the law faculty at Dhaka University. She also worked with Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (Bilia) from 1981 to 1988, and served as editor of the Supreme Court Law Reports (SCLR) for several years.[1]
                  [edit] Bangladesh Movement

Her husband, Rehman Sobhan was a supporter of the Bangladesh movement and was close to the Awami League [2]. He was on the hit list of the Pakistani military and had gone into hiding. Salma Sobhan and her children left the country for England.

                  Legal Aid
In 1982, she resigned from the faculty and along with Dr.Hameeda Hossain founded the human rights organisation, Ain-O-Salish Kendra. She later also started Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (Blast) and Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (Brac). For her work she was awarded US Lawyer's Committee Human Rights Award.
                  Ain-O-Salish Kendra

The organization was initially started as a legal aid organization providing free legal services to the poor, particularly women. They were also involved with Public Interest Litigation and campaigning for rights of prisoners, housing rights and rights of migrants.

                    Wed, Jul 13th, 2011 6:59 pm BdST

                    Sheikh Shahariar Zaman

Dhaka, Jul 13 (bdnews24.com)–Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal is flying down to Dhaka in October to explore possible avenues of investment in Bangladesh, bdnews24.com can confirm.

Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh had contacted with the office of Prince Waleed and they conveyed that he wanted to come in October, said a senior official at the foreign ministry.

The bdnews24.com correspondent saw a letter from the Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh that communicated the conformation to the foreign ministry.

With a net worth estimated by Forbes at US$19.6 billion, making him the 26th richest person in the world, the prince came to Dhaka in 2005 and wanted to invest in the hospitality sector.

Prince Waleed, the chairman of Kingdom Holding Co., expressed desire to buy into one of the two five-star hotels—Pan-Pacific Sonargaon and Dhaka Sheraton.

"The office of the prince has asked the embassy to find out some prospective areas where he can invest," said the official, who refused to be named since he was not authorised to speak to the media on the visit.

The billionaire tycoon would also like to donate to some organisations during his visit, he added.

The member of the Saudi royal family has a net worth of about $20 billion and has stakes in Citigroup, Four Seasons and Fairmont hotel management chains.

He holds a stake in News Corp., the owner of The Wall Street Journal.

Price Waleed also expressed willingness to build one five-star hotel each in Dhaka and Chittagong.
