A Muslim cleric who sexually assaulted two boys at a mosque in Stoke-on-Trent has been sentenced to 16 years in jail.

Mohammed Hanif Khan, 42, had denied charges of rape, attempted rape and sexual activity with a child.

A jury at Nottingham Crown Court found Khan, of Owler Lane, Sheffield, guilty of two counts of rape and one of sexual activity with a child.

    Anthony Bartram reports.

I feel sorry for the families of the children who have become victim to this Insult to mankind. I do not understand how this person can live with himself doing what he did. He does not represent the Muslim community in UK. I hope the Muslim community protest their regret of sending their children to this monster.

      Vomit.

Vomit at the man in the news.
Vomit at the intentions of the poster for shoving this in front of our faces.

It's a deliberate ploy actually. Trying to imply collective responsibility for crimes by saying "he does not represent Muslims". It's also incredibly patronizing.

It's more subtle than you think, and very anti-Muslim (but trying to give the appearance that he's pro-muslim).

I agree, it better to ignore these cases and continue the mantra at the top of our lungs that we are victoms here, or blame the west, or blame the victoms family, or blame.....

I hear this is not an isolated case... glad this happened in England where the family was about to find some justice.... in jail... imam sahib will get a taste of his own medicine...

What Tor Khan means is that MazloomYar/MI6/LEach couldn't give two craps about the child. After all He supports Najib who used to let Soviet soldiers urinate on naked Afghan women and kick pregnant women in the stomach; why would he care about a boy in England?

Clearly the motive of Mazloomyar/Leach is to divert focus for his agenda to try and create a stigma about Islam. not to help children.

tor_khan, why would this offend you? The man has committed a crime and needs to be exposed. Why Muslims like to pin-point evils in others but get agitated when flaws in their own system are shown to them?

I see two problems with him posting this.

Problem 1 is that he's implied this is a collective problem of the Muslim community and people should "protest it". It discounts that these are individual occurrences. Does he ever post about, for example, Catholic priests? And would he say that the Catholic communities should come out and protest it? He certainly would not say that about Catholic communities because he knows that the implication would be to collectively imply that the problem is rampant amongst Catholics.

Problem 2 is that the problem is rampant amongst Hindu priests, but not reported. So he's excluding himself so to speak.

stop over generalizing things. it's either not thinking outside the box or not even bothering to look inside with you people.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

That wasn't inside or outside of the box. Just cryptic.

Child abuse does offend me. Both personally and professionally.

If the systems really worked then people like the man in the news couldn't get close to children. The legal status of someone like me working with children is "in parental locus". Means "in the place of a parent". Now figure.

Interestingly though, you don't need certificates to be a parent and the cases of child abuse that I have had to deal with as a teacher would tear the hearts out of most readers here who genuinely care about child welfare.

I couldn't care if people's entire family were sur kaffir or the ultimate in piety. I don't base my judgment on that, but that I said "vomit" at the beginning of this thread was because the poster, like you, was attempting to make some mileage out of the story that the abuser was a community Imam. Read the thread title.

My sister is a social worker who is a specialist in child protection. People, whatever their religious colour or social ranking and occupation don't openly advertise a taboo interest in children, but it exists. Often this goes on covertly and whether child abuse is organised or individual, there is considerable cover up.

There are whole branches of psychologists writing papers on why this happens. Some begin to argue that this is how some people feel because either nurture or nature gave them body chemistrys that draw them towards children. Most societies, though, are repulsed at the thought. It's a kind of social hypocrisy when we are twice as shocked when we discover that an abuser is an outsider - a doctor, a sports instructor, a cleric etc. On balance they are the 'easy' ones to report. The truth is most child abuse goes on in families and those are the most difficult cases to deal with. I have seen families - Muslim, non-Muslim etc. have to deal with the ugly realities about themselves.

Child abuse has nothing whatsoever to do with religion or profession and it would be no less ok, if the abuser was an atheist coal miner.

Also, read your last line there. You are condoning the possible rape of a man. See again, this isn't about justice, right or wrong. There are people here seemingly uncaring enough about children to turn this into one-up-manship to serve their own political agendas.
