YouTube - Turkey: A model for the ME?

    economically, yes

    socially, hell no
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Turkey is only respected in the west because they bow their heads lower to the west than the other ME nations. The Kurds are more suppressed in democratic Turkey than they were under the dictatorial Iraq.

          Graveyard,
In turkey it is illigal for a woman to wear a headscarf in government institutions. It is illigal to have the quaran in parliament. It is illigal for you to run for office if you support islamic principles. Turkey is bowing as low as they can but the EU still wont accept them and they have been even called the toilet of the world by the same european club that they so desperatly want to join. They have replaced the arabic alphabet with roman alphebet, they have replaced the islamic calendar witht he grecorian calendar.
Economically they should not be looked up to at all. Not counting the gulf states, the per capita of malasia and libya is higher than turkey's, and Iran isnt that far behind. There is no middle eastern country that you could look up to as a model, the asian tiger countries are far better models to look up to or you could look at abu dubai.
