  • 20 killed in US drone attack in Pakistan

At least twenty people have been killed in the latest US missile strike in tribal regions in northwestern Pakistan, local security officials confirm.

According to two Pakistani intelligence officials on Sunday, a US drone fired two missiles that hit the house of local tribesman Awal Gul in Enzer Kasa village of the Datta Khel area in North Waziristan, a tribal region near the Afghan border.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters.

A total of 300 people have so far lost their lives in 42 drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal belt this year.

Washington claims that the raids target militants in Pakistan, but hundreds of civilians have fallen victim to the US drone attacks since 2008.

Islamabad has repeatedly condemned the strikes, saying they threaten the country's sovereignty and fuel public anger.

Despite the Pakistani people and government's opposition to the US drone strikes, the Pentagon Thursday authorized the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to target a wider range of targets in Pakistan with its drone-guided missiles.

The US drone strikes began to expand under former US president George W. Bush and have further increased under President Barack Obama.

I like unmanned planes and exploratory probes, but too bad they get made into weapons nowadays.

Atleast post the darn news straight

This isnt from a Pakistani source

Twenty-five people, including 21 militants, were killed in Pakistan's northwest where a U.S. drone targeted insurgent hideouts and the military stepped up ground attacks on militants in the region today.
Ten people, including six militants, were killed and several others injured in a U.S. drone strike in the restive North Waziristan tribal region in northwest Pakistan.
Unmanned spy planes fired at least two missiles at a suspected militant hideout in Inzarkas village, located 50 km west of Miran Shah, the main town in North Waziristan Agency.
“Local residents pulled 10 bodies from the rubble and some more people are said to be injured,” a source said. Sources said six of those killed were militants, while the rest were civilians.
At least two drones were seen flying over the area for several minutes after the strike, witnesses said.
The strike occurred in the vicinity of Datta Khel, considered a haven for Taliban and Al Qaida elements.

It must seem a bit cowardly to some to kill people from high in the air with unmanned vehicles.

I'm not a fan of these strikes, id rather PAF go in there itself but our sources are stretched between indian and Afghan border .. so we gotta let the MQ-9 reapers in

^ i didnt say that i liked them ? i hate them, id rather have our boys shoot these drones down, but these drones strikes are being coordinated by ISI and aimed at killing the taliban in areas where military hasnt started operation yet i.e North Waziristan

If we wanted to shoot em down, we already would have but with all our resources stretched we allow these drones to take out targets that are designated by our ground intelligence
