The reason why there has been such a misconception about them is due to the fact that their rule was during the civil war. I have watched documentaries on respectable and neutral Western TV channels, and in the documentaries, the officials at the time said that the reason girls were not allowed to go to school was due the insecurity due to the civil war.
I remember that this official told the interviewer that once the war was over, girls would get a proper quality education.
Now I am not saying they made no mistakes. They did interpret some things in a very extreme manner. However, the one thing everyone in Afghanistan wanted at that time and wants today is security- and they gave security, and are , and will continue once again to give security.
At the end of the day, that is all its about. Everyone except the few traitors want the foreigners out, and everyone wants security.
ino, running a country during a civil war has its drawbacks as you have to make some scarfices until your stable and thats excatly what they did and as usual the west only picks segments of what they did and portray it to the media which didnt give the full picture!
inshallah everything is going to be back to normal once foreigners leave.
