What should be the punishment for zinna without taking islam into consideration?

I have read the post of an athiest in this forum that islamic punishments of stoning, flogging , cutting hands are inhuman.

Lets supposed we exclude islam from our lives, what should be the natural punishment for adulterary or no punishment at all?

Islam teaches us morality. And the reason why crimes of immorality are punished severely, is not because the crime by itself is serious. But because the crime can cause a much more greater evil to the society.

The evil the society is facing with crimes of immorality such as adultery is undesired pregnancy, men avoiding to take responsibility for empregnating women, secually transmitted diseases, a market for prostitution, slavery and much more.

These evils are prevalent in societies where adultery is not considered a crime. There are everyday many children born in wealthy and prosperous societies who have no father. Their mothers are often unable to take care of themselves. So the society as a whole have to invest serious money to help raise these poor *******s. And because they are raised in broken families, these children often end up in crime and drug scene.

Sexually transmitted diseases cost the society billions.

And prostitution and slavery are well known problems through-out the history.

So the reason why this crime is punished so harshly, is because the punishment serves as a deterrent.

And only suitable punishment to prevent people from causing more problems is to punish them in a very harsh manner. And the punishemnt in Islam is the only right punishment for such crimes.
