  • Share something that you learned from your Friday khutba

I had this idea that we all share something that we learn from the friday khutba..we all live in different countries and it will be very beneficial to all of us to share our thoughts..keep it short since its easy and interesing to read one para then a whole essay..read the rules before you post

Following are the reasons for making this thread:

    1. I have an immensely short attention span unfortunately even during khutba's, but even people like me occasionally pick up a thing or two that they can relate to in their personal and maybe bring about a nice change too.

    2. People usually visit one masjid for friday prayer since there arent many option available to people living in foreign countries .. so if they are stuck with a boring imam ( you know what im talking about ) you end up learning nothing and for people like me friday khutba is the only place where we get some guidance..so by sharing whatever you learned from khutba you might be helping people like me

    3. This will help cuz it will cover a variety of topics and not one topic so different people can find stuff that they can relate too

    RULES for this thread:

    1. No discussions whatsoever

    2. Keep it short..we dont want essays since there a lot of them on internet, the purpose of this thread is to share small enough tidbids about your friday khutba that people have enough time to look over without getting bored

    3. NO topics about killing the infidels or any of that stuff

Im off to Juma, i'll post something later on
It's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

    Well done Talal. Excellent thread

Today's Khutba was a reminder that even though its almost a month since Ramadhan finished, we should still continue to behave as if its Ramadhan. We should read Quran regularly and pray, and just like we make goals that we will finish Quran once or twice or three times during Ramadhan, we should make similar goals for the rest of the 11 months and work towards those goals.

Today's Khutbah in our mosque (The Netherlands) was about the real importance and meaning of la illaha ilallah (there is not God but allah and Muhammad is his messenger). The Shahada or kalima of the islamic faith. It was said by the imam, that this article of faith has a very big meaning, it means that you should only rely on Allah (swt) in every aspect of you life and reject all the other Gods, people, taghoots, persons. So you should only worship the one God and reject all the other partners or associates with him. Only those people who have real faith in that in their heart, will enter paradise.

Todays khutba at our mosque mentioned basically to stay away from people who are a bad influence on you because you may join them in what they do. Basically, the gist of the khutba was to keep good company.

Two groups of people will be Jahanami:

          1. Those who do not wash themselves after urinating, and thus have urine on their clothes.

          2. Those who spread the private information shared by two people to a third or more people.

dont use your authority as the leader of the household to opress the women in your family or deny them their shari'i rights. Dont neglect shari'i rulings in matters of business affairs and trade agreements. Dont cheat on your taxes. Dont lie about your income. Fear allah for the day of judgement.

The best way to know if your ibadat is being accepted is to look at yourself and see if this ibadat has changed you for a better person or not
