  • Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim

Of all the names of Allah these 2 are the ones that touch me on the deepest level. I was thinking about them again last night, and was wondering why.

Maybe because I am so much in need of these two. As a convert, very little seems as important to me as the faith. I am like a baby always thirsty for more.

Can anyone understand this need of mine?

Zayam, to put myself anywhere near your level would be an exaggeration of my character, however, I do share your thirst for more, to taste more sweetness that comes from this communication. Once a servant devotes his time to His Creator, effortlessly, everything else seems to fall in place. For others, this is not always the case as our desire to be close to Him is then tested, some fall weak, and some move on. Asma-ul-Husna is indeed something that touches us and something that involuntarily comes to our tongues at times of need, when we invoke. For me, my faith in every one of those names has granted me success in the hardest of times. A while ago, my car lost control in the middle of a four-lane freeway on a stormy day. I could see the car going in the direction of the train tracks. As I got closer to the barrier posts, the words Ya Rahman left my mouth. The car came to a halt, immediately. For me, that was a sign, a result of my invocation to Allah to be closer to Him. I always get an answer. It always comes differently.
