Interesting.
Wow... this is what people need to do. SPEAK UP!
NOT because we are Muslims. No, but because people are being discriminated against, because this is racial profiling and this is segregation and this is damn America and it shouldn't take place here because this is not what this country has been founded upon.

America was founded on holocaust of Native Americans African slavery. Out of all places in the world, America is the place where discrimination should take place.
What you are saying is like saying people shouldn't pray in the mosque because that is not what mosques are build for.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

about two years ago in kabul i saw two philipino women dressed in jeans and t shirts. they were shopping in the same store as me. just a few months before that the tabilan had captured a bunch of pilipino tourists and killed them.
i was so upset with those women. i thought that since they were in a country such as afghanistan they should dress up according to their environment. I WAS WRONG. I LIVE IN CANADA BUT I DRESS ACCORDING TO MY CULTURE. I DON'T WANT ANY ONE INTERFERING WITH THAT.
now imagine a bunch of americans living in afghanistan and wearing bikinis to the beaches...would it not get on our nerves? well it not make us march up to them and tell them off?
i have been living in canada for over 10 years and not once have i been approached by a "canadian" that being the white people negatively about the way i dress. i have been approached by muslims and afghans for that matter.
IT TAKES A GREAT AMOUNT OF UNDERSTANDING. SOME OF US HAVE IT SOME DON'T. WHAT WE HAVE TO REMEMBER IS THAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER. PITY THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND. YOU CAN'T EVER HATE OR BE ANGRY WITH SOME ONE YOU PITY.

America is not what you think it is. America is the land of the free and I will defend its *Citizens* till I die. I am against its Govt but I am sorry to say this to you but no country can match or be compared with the USA. It has everything. Just because it most definitely rules where you are from does not mean its bad. Yes it has made slaves out many European countries but that just means they have very educated politicians.Originally posted by شمله ور خراساني View PostAmerica was founded on holocaust of Native Americans African slavery. America is the one country that is truly unique in this sense. Its a country of all and for all. I see Muslims doing dawah, Jews doing dawah and Christians doing dawah simultaneously and peacefully.

The means by which it was built were wrong. What it was built for was a refuge for people to go to who were discriminated against on base of their political, religious, cultural or ethnic background. People came here because they were discriminated against. It defeats the whole purpose of the entire nation and every single aspect of its history when people go against every single principle upon which the nation was created.
There is absolutely no place in this world where discrimination should take place. Not here, not anywhere else.

This is an alteration of what prominent European authors were suggesting in those days. It is heavily inspired by Hobbes and Locke.
And just like Pakistanis are spoon-fed to believe Pakistan is an Islamic country, and Afghans are brainwashed to think Amanullah Khan was a hero, likewise, you Americans are told that people fled prosecution and discrimination from Europe and built America.
Nothing is futher from the truth.
Only bigots, extremists and fascists moved to USA. Today, the Christian Zionist bigots like Erik Prince of blackwater are perfect example of the ruling elite of America who all hail from families of disicidents from Germany, Holland, France and England who caused wars and blood shed. And were bigotted Christian fantatics who hated people of other races and went to America to realize their wild biblical fantasies.
Those same bigots and fanatics have even invented a concept which is called "manifest destiny". They claim that it was in the bible that these bigots should go and occupy America, massacre its people to create their ideal state where they can create a country based on their bigotted ideas and concepts of christianity that was impopular and counterproductive in the thiriving and expanding enlightenment era of Europe.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

The word bigot describes these people from Europe who later founded America. You should study the etymology of bigot and bigotry.[SIZE="4"][B][CENTER][URL="www.quranawsunnat.com"]www.quranawsunnat.com

We need to learn to quit generalizing.
This isn't an illustration of how "Muslimssssssss" (or Muslim ladiessssss") are treated in America. It's how a certain Muslim in a certain part of the country is treated in a certain place by a certain group of people.
I'm a Muslim female living in the U.S.; I have many Muslim female friends living here near me, many of whom wear the hijab and one of whom wears a niqaab. How come they never experience these things? I myself have conducted a study on American Muslims (both males and females) and their experiences as American Muslims, and one of the questions I asked was for them to rate their experience as American Muslims or Muslims in America on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being excellent. Guess what: ALL except three said 8 or above. To make it even better, all except one or two also said that America is THE best place for Muslims, especially Muslim women, to live in and to practice Islam in. The study was and still is open to ALL Muslims of all backgrounds anywhere in the U.S., and I have yet to get more than like 3 people who hate it so much they wish they were elsewhere.
So, really, this doesn't represent the experiences of ALL Muslims in ALL of America, and most of us tend to neglect this fact. We need to learn to look at more than one side of each issue, and in this context, that meas we need to get samples of American Muslims who are actually loving and appreciating their American identity AND we need to get a sample of others who aren't as at peace here.
Of course, that's not at all to imply that what the minority goes through doesn't matter. No, absolutely not. Their voice is just as important as the voice of the majority, and we need to give equal attention and respect to all of them, not just to the ones we agree with or whose experiences resemble our own or whose experiences are what we've always imagined them to be (as in the case of this video).
That said, I absolute love, love, LOVE this show! It's called "What Would You Do?" I have watched many different episodes of it, and I am always learning something from it. It really makes you think/wonder what you'd do if you ever came across the situations depicted in the film. Once, the filmmakers went to a restaurant where a young girl was sitting with her boyfriend/fiance who was being really rude to her. She was dressed "modestly" when she entered the restaurant, and her head was bowed, as if to hide the scars that were on her neck and arms. As she and her partner were ensconced in a table, the girl decided to take off her blouse. Her partner responded with intense anger and held her arm saying, "PUT THAT BACK ON!!" When she chose not to, the guy started hitting her. He started making noises and got up to hit her harder. People began to stare at him, and not one person stood up to stop him from hitting the lady. After a long while, a couple of concerned women at a nearby table got up to stop him, and the guy was like, "This is none of your business; she's MY lady!" One of them nudged the others to call 911, and they did.
After some time, the filmmakers stopped everything and told everyone that they were only playing a scenario to see how people would respond to the presented situation. Of course, mostly everyone was ashamed of themselves for not speaking up then. A couple of people cried in the end, saying, "Imagine if this were my daughter!" or "Imagine if this were me!"
The filmmakers asked them in the end why they reacted/responded the way they did, be it silence. Some of them said, "Well, that's between him and her. I feel like I shouldn't be involved." Another said, "I feared he might hit me, too then, if I budged in."
Now, these same filmmakers went to another restaurant, this time with a female who was dressed more like what one would consider "****ty." The (lack of) response from the customers were mindblowing.
So, yeah, I love this show! I have much respect for the main guy in charge. I mean, look at him! He's truly making a difference in people's lives, mostly for the better.Last edited by Guest; 09-01-2010, 12:49 AM.

Ohhh, I forgot to add! According to practically ALL of the Muslims I've interviewed regarding their lives in America, they suffer more discrimination in the hands of other MUSLIMS than in the hands of non-Muslims. Some females said that they've been denied jobs IN Muslim shops/businesses because they refused to take off their hijab or wear non-traditional clothing while they've never experienced anything like that in non-Muslim shops/jobs/etc.
There. Stop generalizing. If you wanna really hear what the truth is, then you should listen to more than one person about their lives to get a broader picture.
