  • Surah Fatiha and "Sirat E Mustaqim"

I have a question for my non-Shiaee brothers regarding the translation of Surah Fatiha. The reason why I want to ask this question is to make a point regarding the "interpretation" of Quran. My non-Shia brothers always bring this issue of "interpretation" when they get stuck during a debate/conversation. Here is the translation generally done/believed by Sunni Muslims (you can check it for yourself online here). I believe I already had this discussion with CK members; hopefully they will participate in this one too, to refresh memory.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (1) In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (2) Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (3) Most Gracious, Most Merciful;مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ (4) Master of the Day of Judgment.إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ (5) Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ (6) Show us the straight way,صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ (7) The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
I have two questions for now:
One, how do you claim to be on the "true path" or "guided" when here, you are asking Allah to "show" you the "straight way"? I mean if you already were on Rah-E-Haq (i.e. straight way) you wouldn't ask for it right?
And second, do you believe that the Prophet (SAW) also meant "show us the straight way" when reciting Surah Fatiha (i.e. this translation of "Ehdina Serat Al Mustaqeen")?

NOTICE: PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION ONLY AND DO NOT DIVERT FROM THE TOPIC BECAUSE I'VE HAD ENOUGH MESSING OF MY OTHER THREADS, SO IF YOU MESS THIS ONE UP, I WOULD SIMPLY IGNORE YOU AND ALSO REPORT YOU TO THE ADMIN, THANKS.

Soorat Fateh is actually an Application towards God.
I think application is to put once only!

Dear, if u read Soorat Fateh's meaning....its obvious that its an application towards God that He may show you Siraat-e-Mustakeem.....So its a general rule that application is to put once only...rather repeating it 30 times a day.

Still, what difference does it make? You still are asking to be "guided" to the "right path" ("guide us" to the right path, is that what you saying?) It's funny how in your other posts you claim to be the "true" follower when here you are accepting that you haven't even been "guided" yet lol. And be sure to check the source that I quoted from, there it says "show us" and not "guide us".
