Lately some people have brought up the issue of Allah the moon god and Islam being the invention of Muhammad dreams. This is an interesting video where a Rabbi gives his opinion:

The Christians and Jews in Arabia were there before Mohammad. If Mohammad made up Islam, and used the sole deity aka moon god Allah to concocted his religion, than why do Arab Christians and Jews still use Allah for God? What did they use before Mohammads arrival in Mecca? Surely not Allah, how could they, he was a moon god.

I can post 100's of videos of Jewish Rabbis who say Islam is the mos violent relgion and very much new.

To be fair and honest, Hindusim is the oldest relgion not Islam.

I find it absolutely amusing how people still beleive that There were Muslims before Judaism and Christiainity.

The Quran stated that Muslims existed before Islam was invented and that Adam and eve were Muslims and the only source they have is the Quran. Come on guys, do you really fall for it. If Allah wrote the Quran why is so full of contradictions as i did post a thread on it before.

It depends on how you look at it. When people believe that Islam is the oldest religion, its meant in the sense of its core principle i.e tawhid (monotheism). Hinduism too started out with Brahma (the unseen Supreme Being), and the many ancient texts prohibits depictions of any gods or associations with any other deities.

But some, like you make the mistake in the sense that Mohammad apparently was alive a billion years ago, went in and out of hibernation every other generation to preach Islam. That's false.

Muslim means "one who has faith", or "one who has submitted in the belief" (of God). In that sense Adam and Eve were Muslims if they believed in a "God".

If you mean that Adam prayed 5 times a day, fasted during ramadan, and wore an abaya, while Eve walked around in hijab or a burqa, then probably not.

ALL, yes all of the oldest civilizations of the world were polytheist and pantheist.

I never claimed to the contrary, though does it make sense that a group of people start worshipping a family of deities vs. starting off with one, and gradually adding on others to explain various events (disasters for example) as a struggle between various gods? (father and son, brothers and sisters, jealous mothers etc.)

They started off by committing genocide against all their neighbors, raping their women, burning down their cities and animals, etc. They documented their atrocities in their Old Testament pretty well. Are those the first Muslims that you're referring to?

So did the Hindus, Greeks, Egyptians, and not to mention open heart surgeons Aztecs. I don't see the relevance unless you intended to project monotheists as some savage beasts compared to others. Fail.

As for the Hinduism reference, you can say the same thing about the Aztecs - they're monotheists, too. The sun is a single deity. The Greeks also had one main deity and so did the Nordic and Germanic peoples (Odin and Wotan). Even the spaghetti monster people have one deity. Other basic and fundamentalist tenants of Hinduism, such as the Hindu concept of the universe (the tortoise thing) and their notion of creation, directly contradict those of Judaism and Islam.

Not all native people of the Americas worshipped the Sun. Many worship the unseen Great Forefather or the Great Spirit. Neither idolized nor depicted. And of course, the great contradictions, but one can claim that the original monotheistic beliefs were corrupted and only the traces of the corrupted beliefs are left behind and documented. A justification for the Abrahmic faiths to come down in the first place.

This "our religion had been there since creation" claim, along multiple other claims presented by theists, lacks the foundations provided by empirical evidence. The first reason for this is that the whole creation thing is false. But when these people reject evolution, despite the existence of tonnes of supporting evidence around, you can expect them to believe anything in their irrationality and fundamentalism. They don't believe in evidence, they believe in magic. They are the same people who, 200 years ago, swore that dinosaurs were all false. They are the same people who persecuted Galileo. They change every generation but they do exist. Fortunately, among the educated and the aware, they form a minority. Farmers and plebs can believe whatever they like.

Awesome, empirical evidence! Then again some people (fortunately or unfortunately) believe in 3/4ths of undocumented, unverifiable, claims without such foundational evidence when its convenient and inline with their personal assessments. Many of them are far from being farmers or rickshaw drivers.
