  • What sufi groups are there in pashtun regions?

What are the different Sufi sects in Pashtun regions? Which ones are popular? What do they teach?

Was always interested in knowing what kind of influence they may have had in our parts of the world.

Pretty much most of the major ones that are all over Central and South Asia.

Among Afghan Pashtuns, high number of Qadiri (which my family is affiliated with, not the "Gailani" who are in Afghan politics per se). Naqshbandi is pretty popular. Among Pakistani Pashtuns, it seems Chishtis are predominant, Hamza Baba Shinwari, Rahman Baba etc. seem to be Chishti. Albeit they aren't the "Qalandari" variety. Also bear in mind, there are smaller Sufi lineages that branch from the major ones.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
