Interested to know if there's anyone here that's irreligious, or just generally what people's religious beliefs are; though I'm assuming most here are Muslim.

For some years I embraced atheism/liberalism and I was a hardcore anti-Islam. But in the past years I have shifted toward more pro-Islamic stances.Originally posted by Porus View PostInterested to know if there's anyone here that's irreligious, or just generally what people's religious beliefs are; though I'm assuming most here are Muslim.
Currently I consider myself an agnostic person, culturally Muslim. I attend mosque basically because it makes me comfortable and makes me feel part of something bigger. I observe Ramadan and try to attend Islamic events such as "khatms", "fateh" and so on.
Im also starting to value and appreciate Islamic values and collectivism. I seriously dislike individualism right now. Western liberalism has some serious wrong consequences in our countries. Westoxication needs to stop."For thirty years, I endured much pain and strife,
I awaken the Ajam by this Persian [language]. "

I kind of understand your position and it's sort of where I stand. I used to think religion was the root of all evil back in the day and particularly disliked Islam. But I realised my problem wasn't with Islam in the first place, it was just Muslims and their zeal towards their faith. I also met many cool Muslims in London and Pakistan respectively so that made me change my mind.Originally posted by Firdousi View PostFor some years I embraced atheism/liberalism and I was a hardcore anti-Islam. It's good to appreciate Islamic history, like I'm fascinated by the admixture of Perso-Islamic styles of buildings in Pakistan and India, and how Persian-Islam fused with local culture. I think I can really appreciate that. I can also appreciate great beings like Fariduddin Ganjshakar, Rumi, Ghalib, Ghazali etc. Still, I maintain a strong dislike for strict interpretations and prefer secular thought
Individualism is fine, I don't agree with aspects of Western individualism i.e. right to bear arms, abolishing tax on big companies... basically right-wing jingoist crap.

On that note, are you one of them?Originally posted by Elite Pakhtun View PostBro I'll save you some time. Most are irreligious. The ones who aren't admitting it may just be hiding it. Only a handful of the non-admitters are believers.
It's the internet. Home of the irreligious, libertarian and red piller.

By his allusion to argument, he meant the bevy of topics ranging from darwinism (construct), intellectualism, world views and such. These arguments are actually their perspective and that they extapolate aforementioned topics to fulfill their own agenda. Hence, they're to be regarded with a grain of salt.Originally posted by Porus View PostOn that note, are you one of them?

Okay well none of that elaborates on the claim posed by Kakar, unless he just regards Darwinism and intellectualism to be lame in which case that's just an opinion.Originally posted by ZarakDurrani606 View PostBy his allusion to argument, he meant the bevy of topics ranging from darwinism (construct), intellectualism, world views and such. Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
