Now it is pretty evident that mullahs and masses are not on the same page when it comes many things. The masses in most Muslim countries have rejected mullah or orthodox interpretation of religion and nobody except for a minority of people takes them seriously or at least think the place of mullahs should be confined just to the mosque. Music in orthodox Islam is completely haram while majority of muslims in the world today listen to music and no cares what the mullahs or orthodox Islam has to say. Women are participating in sports and other walk of life and mullahs aren't too happy about that either.
We live in a globalized world and people can travel freely and interact with people of different faiths, worldviews etc. Can orthodox Islam survive in the face of such challenges, will it have to compromise on somethings? Would those compromises be considered betrayal of Islam and would muslims be doing exactly what they accuse Christians of doing, which is changing their religion according to their desires?
