Wow an arab that say things like this on TV?? How is he not killed yet. But anyway he is right.
He is also right about the state of muslim countries. Especialy the Gulf ones who boast about the glorious arab past, when in fact most of the intelectuals where either Persian, South/Central Asian or North African...

Actually one thing I notice is that the new generations of Arabs are actually waking up, they are already much ahead compared to our countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, who can't even speak arabic, yet think they are the best muslims. A lot of Arab media I see is free and people are saying many things, even against Sharia.

Lets hope this will continue and not be just a trend. But countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan are just doing what the arabs are doing, so of they become more secular hopefully ours will follow the example.

he makes sense but he's factually wrong, since Muslim conquests don't meet the definition of colonialism.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Arab who makes sense means: arab says the things I believe to be true. Making sense suggests that anyone who is a sensible person would agree with what this person says. In reality, a secular liberal Arab says exactly what other secular liberals believe. So it only makes sense to people of his own persuasion.

a.) There was no Arab nation, so there could be no national policy
b.) No policy to repatriate Arabs to other regions
c.) no policy of economic exploitation
d.) Lack of a social class policy based on national origins in most instances*

*Only in maybe the case of the Ummayads who used Mawali system can it be argued they had a class policy. But both predecessors and those who defeated them didn't have such policies.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

That doesn't change the fact that Karachi's remarks are still a form of confirmation bias.
