  • Muslims and Sharia Law

I find most muslims are hypocrites on Sharia Law and have no knowledge of it, if you ask most muslims, they will give a vague answer, but many will say we support it. Present form of Sharia Law is basically what ISIS, Taliban, Saudi etc.. practice, I am not saying they are 100% practicing it correctly, but they are pretty close to it.

My questions is, why dont these muslims who support Sharia go live in these countries then? They enjoy western freedoms and yet these idiots say they support Sharia law. I would bet even most muslims living in a place like Dubai will say we like Sharia Law and eventually want it, yet at the same time they enjoy secular lifestyle of Dubai

The point is, most muslims are very confused and hypocrites about these things, they basically just follow the religion because they have too or are forced to, they have no idea what they are doing, what the religion is about, heck they dont even know how to pray . I think muslims need to speak the truth to themselves first, that they dont know Islam at all.

Sharia law is the system for the middle ages, not for modern times. It needs to be reformed completly for it to fit in modern times

Sharia is a barbaric legal system asking for stoning to death and cutting of hands. It was only implemented by real Islamists like the Prophet Muhammad, first 4 caliphs,Taliban,Islamic State etc.

Sharia otherwise remains in books because it is not scientific or practical. The more Muslims are ignorants of Islamism, they will be away from Sharia. The more you read Quran and Hadith ,the more you ask for Sharia.

Sharia = stone age barbarism. It shouldn't be reformed but be completely drowned out of our modern society.

Yes. The way is total rejection of Sharia not reforming it. A total dead and dirty body of Sharia cannot be reformed. We must also reject sources of Sharia like Quran and hadith.

What do all Muslim countries have in power?? Poverty, war, illiteracy and unproductiveness. Whether sharia law is appropriate terms o live by in today's society or not, is not the question here. As much as I dislike the sharia law, I have to admit that our plague is not the sharia law. Saudi Arabia uses the sharia law. Are its citizens living in poverty or suffering from war?? They make it work for themselves and do not allow anyone to step on their toes on the name of Islam. To the rest of us they are horrible people but to each other, they are practical people. That works for them.

The problem is not sharia, the problem is lack of common sense in our people. Tell a Saudi to forgive a terrorist or give asylum to a criminal on the bases of the fact that he is a Muslim, fighting for the sake of jahad. Tell an afghan that. See what both of them do and then look at the state their countries are. I read somewhere recently that when Tariq jameel goes to give lectures to the students of other areas in Pakistan, he tells them to become doctors and engineers because that is the path to success but when he comes to Peshawar, he tells the Pashtuns that they are a cursed tribe and that they must redeem themselves by doing jahad.

Honestly, monkeys learn faster than afghans/most pakistanies do.

Well Sharia itself doesn't make sense in the modern world, I mean who really wants to cut hand for just stealing something, it is so barbaric, but in Saudi they do that. I agree that it is their culture and system, but it is also misused there. Look at the number of Pakistanis/Afghans that get beheaded there, for crimes that no way requires death penalty.

People can and do misuse Sharia Law, but the system itself is very old and barbaric, even if it was practiced properly, it would not fit in the modern world. There are so many things that are ancient in that system.

You have got to decide which problem you want fixed first, Karachi. You can't tackle them all at once and succeed, too. No system of any sort, whether religious or secular, will work for people who are dishonest and have no sense of right or wrong. If the horrors of sharia doesn't set people straight, what makes you think free will would??
We have a lot more serious things to worry about before we even bother with the question of whether sharia is right or wrong.

I agree, the people in that region are messed up and in their current state no system will help them immediately. But I believe a secular/democracy system like that of (India) for example can help them, if not know, but perhaps 100 years from now. Sharia Law is a outdated system, if Sharia law is installed, these people will never change, even in a thousand years. This is the difference in my opinion

I look at India as a great example, because somehow they have manged to unite so many ethnicities, different religions in one country. Of course they have lots of problems too, but over all, looking at the size of India, they have done a great job. I dont understand why Pakistan/Afghanistan can't do the same. Pakistan was India just 60 years ago and they are basically Indians. Though they think they are arabs or persians.

Also, I know there is a lot of ethnic problems in these countries, but I believe they will be resolved once they get some proper education, and proper education will come through a proper modern system, not something from stone age.

Saudi is like a jail and harsh rules and barbaric law work in prisons. Introduce democracy in Saudi and the Sharia will be evaporated. If you have better modern law, what is the need of the obsolete Sharia?

Karachi. Sharia law only works in its complete form, you cant say "the closest thing to Sharia law is those countries" there is no 'closest' .. either you completely practice it fully or you will have cracks which will be detrimental to complete governing system. For one to give practical examples of ISIS and so fourth as a demonstration of what Sharia looks like is naive - they are implementing it like stone age people.
Look, imagine UK or USA being run with its laws but with no regulated courts, no qualified lawyers/solicitors, no legal institutions and no university's where people can become legal practitioners..couple that with the country having no stable infrastructure and in a state of constant war, what will you have? you will have a stone age implementation of secularism and chaos right? c'mon its inevitable. Now its the same with current Syria and the likes which claim to implement Sharia with no qualified muftis that have studied jurisprudence, nobody has any qualifications to be judges, no credible criminal investigations no nothing. Be fair when comparing systems of governance and making assumptions, look at context of situations.
Say you had a country that wanted to start a Sharia run country, lets take Syria as an example, if you had a proper system from university's and people actually studying the implementation of Sharia, which in the future would become part of the police force/law enforcement, forensic detectives, judges, solicitors/lawyers etc everything was regulated by a body and the system treated all citizens with fairness and equality, you would see a complete different aspect to what the implimentaion of Sharia looks like. Would i join? yes i would. I will not join an unstable country which is being bombed by secularists constantly or run by a bunch of kids off the street claiming to have set up a vague form of governance and where a fair trial is unheard of.

Also, Saudi does not have sharia law, it is a monarchy - something which is complete contrast to what sharia law stands for, it is a dictatorship that cherry picks laws from sharia to suit its hierarchy, as mentioned above, Sharia law cannot be implemented in bits.

What is proper complete Sharia? are you saying ISIS, Saudis etc.. are not practicing Sharia? like I said they might not be practicing it 100%, but then they are taking a lot things they do directly from Sharia texts. Do you really believe things like public beheadings, chopping off hands, stoning, even things like allowing rape of women prisoners are not part of sharia? they are all part of it, no matter how much anyone denys it

Can you give one example of complete Sharia system today and in the past 1400 years. If No then Sharia is just a fantasy.
