We should never base our religion on what people do and say. Religion is based on revelation.

And Dar-ul-uloom graduated ulemas live in Lakki Marwat, among the people in the society...Rabbit is halal, it is not shia, dont make an issue out of it. About halal and haraam food, utmost care is taken in our area, Lakki Marwat is not your Denmark. If some one in our areas has doubts about nature of meat of particular animal, there are properly educated and graduated maulanas and muftis there for consultation and guidance.

It is halal. I have a hare farm in Pakistan. Btw there is a difference between hares and rabbits, but both are halal.
