I want to share the analyses of sh hamza yusuf, an american muslim if you have not heard of him. His analyses of many areas of islam misunderstood by people are very lucid and succunct.
I am attaching a link of his discussion of marriage of ayesha(r) and the hu-ha that is created around it by those who are not the mumineen. This particular discussion has already been superbly analysed by dr BA before.
There is another good discussion on the hijab-niqab-aura-jilbab-jaib issue, which clearly teases out jahaliya cultural practice, meaning of hijab and what is to cover - a sub issue is that for some afghans, culture along with religion forms our identity as long as culture is not imposing on religion.
I selected these examples because often these issues are raised as debates with people who may not know the details and circumstances of events.
