  • Scholars

I hear this all the time regarding Qu'ranic verses and Hadiths: you need to clarify the meanings with a certified scholar.

This is kinda insulting as God says in the Qu'ran that he made the verses clear, so why would anyone need to have a "scholar" explain to them what a verse mean? isn't this a form of shirk, a mediator between you and God. Islam demolished mediators, and the other faiths lost their ways because of mediators.

How does someone become a scholar? are they better than the average person, because people look up to them as they are almost Prophet-like.

Must have something to do with decoding the classical Arabic.

And whilst everyone cannot be knowledgable, 'scholars' must not be entirely wrapped in artificial layers of importance. Islam is for everyone and everyone has the duty to seek deeper meaning. That may mean that we consult to find answers, but we'd be foolish to passively accept everything we are told by a singular source.

Scholars in every field know more than they laymen. This is why all rational people value the opinion of a scholar and ignore the layman.

That's shirk. once again a mediator between you and God. Islam abolished these principles. So both the scholar and "all rational people" are guilty of shirk

That's shirk once again. do schoalrs have access to hidden knowledge that aren't for the average muslim?

The Quran and hadiths that the average john, bill, and harry is the same one as the scholars use. if the average person has studied the texts of Islam for years, they could be a scholar in those areas.

thats shirk? you guys in america are really confused.
that about middle man is about asking Allah (s) through graves or some cooks.
scholars arent middle men , they are like teachers who help one to undertand Islam beter.

why would he need it examined? he's the only one between the two of you that's using it. If anything you may need to have yours examined to see if it still works.

says the self proclaimed agnostic "muslim".

                          now answer this question

is imam also an intermediary? and shirk?

i would say that someone who has dedicated more of their time or life to any subject is more likely to have a better understanding of things than others. you are supposed to refer to them when you don't understand things, not necessarily depend on their version of what quran means..not self proclaimed scholars but decent ones, not the kind who exchange their knowledge for halwa.
