Sunni and Shia clerics jointly lead the evening prayer in Gilgit,Pakistan
Gilgit/Chitral areas seem to be very peaceful societies, most of the people up there are Ismaili anyways though. They still have strong Dardic cultural roots

What is the ruling regarding Isma'eelyyah in Hanafi madhab?
Are they considered Muslims?

Never talk with Afghans about politics. All their political knowledge is limited to conspiracy theories, political demonization and contradictions. No logic, no reason.
This is great. Thank you for posting, because we need some encouraging news.
There is NO point in hostilities on any level between Shia and Sunni. I was just thinking about this topic anyway.
Think how much ENERGY over the centuries the competition has DRAINED AWAY ?
Think how that energy could be spent SO WELL, like in perfecting oneself and educating others about the religion, and helping them along to develop better habits in their lives.
Think about the outside influences always trying to stir up this Shia-Sunni conflict. It's absolutely that this obvious trap to siphon off the energies of Muslims all over the world gets STILL fallen into, right and left. It's dangerous to fall into this way of thinking of hostility.
Better for the 2 to get along and COOPERATE. Shias are really well organized.
They can HELP Afghanistan get itself back on its feet after the occupation ends God willing.
People of the region have to put aside suspicions of
each other and instead worry about the OUTSIDE negative influence, which is a REAL threat to the entire culture and society.

Unfortunatly it wont away so soon, because there are people in pakistan and other countries who think killing shias will earn them paradise. They have been brain washed. Same is true for shia extremists who think their sect is the only correct one.
The hatred is very strong and runs deep in the veins, it wont go away until perhaps next few generations to come. I agree that work on it has to be started now before there is a all out war
Isma'iliyyah is beyond the fold of Islaam. However, there is an interesting detail from the Shi'a books of creed regarding prayer behind a sunni: The founder of present Shi'ism, Muhammad Baqir al Majlisi writes in one of his most important series of books for Shi'ism "Bihaar al Anwaar" the following:
تبيين : " خلف الامام " أي أئمة الجور الذين كانوا في زمانهم عليهما السلام ، كانا يصليان خلفهم تقية ، ولا ينويان الاقتداء بهم ، وكانا يقرآن ويصليان لانفسهما
"Behind the Imam" means, the evil imams which were present in their times (AS) they used to pray behind them as in means of Taqiyyah [lying/deception] and did not make the niyyah [have the intention] of imitating them. They used to recite for themselves and perform their own prayers". Bihaar al Anwaar, 85/47
It is more than obvious. Furthermore, the so called "Ahl al khilaaf" [sunnis/islamic community] are all disbelievers according to Shi'ism and their scholars:
This is what the biggest muhaddith and scholar of Shi'ism [also the founding father of the Najaf institution] has to say about it:
"What needs clarification in this topic is that praying behind them [sunnis] is not like praying behind a just imam, but in reality it is just the image of a prayer as is proven from the narrations.Al Amah [sunnis] think it is a prayer and that they are being followed as Imams. From this we see why the narrations only speak about prayer and not following or imitating them. So he [shia] enters the prayer with them, [but] he makes his own Adhaan, recites his own iqaamah, and he recites for himself in a way that no one would be able to hear him".
The prayer of Ahl ul Sunnah and their Imam is not relied upon by the Shi'a [Mir'aat al Uqool 15/256] and the Islamic community are ALL apostates according to Shi'a books of creed [Al Sadooq,Al Amali, p 656, #5] and the one not believing in their concept of Imamah is a kaafir [Mullah Baqir al Majlisi, Haqqul Yaqeen, p 189].
Grand Ayatullah Muhammad Sadiq al-Roohani says in “Fiqh al-Sadiq” 6/266: [The second: al-Iman(The belief), meaning he has to recognize the Imamah of the twelve Imams (as) and that it is something which should not be doubted, the consensus regarding this was reported to us through a group. What supports it: many texts such as the Sahih of Zurarah from abu Ja'afar (as) about praying behind the Mukhalifeen, he (as) said: "To me, they are of the same status as walls."
And Sahih al-Barqi: He wrote to abu Ja'afar (as):" is it permissible to pray behind those who did not accept the Imamah of your father and grandfather (as)?" He replied: "Do not pray behind him."]
In conclusion, don't be overwhelmed by these nifaaq driven shayaateen.
Thanks for the thoughtful answer, Karachi. I still think better vision needs to be implemented regarding this explosive topic, which NEED NOT be incendiary.
