  • Sufism

in this topic i want to talk about the idea of sufism briefly. the word meaning of wahdat al wujud is unity of being. ibn arabi is most often characterized in islamic texts as the originator of the doctrine of wahdat al-wujud. according to this concept all things in the universe are pieces of supreme deity, but meanwhile, god is transcendent and separate from things as well as within things. wujud is the unknowable and inaccessible ground of everything that exists. wujud is the absolute, infinite, nondelimited reality of supreme deity; while all others remain relative, finite, and delimited. the things in universe are reflection of attributes of supreme deity

What is your take on Wahdatul Shahood?
And why salafis and wahabis are against Sufism?

wahdatul wajud is that every thing IS God (hama oost)while wahdatul shahud is every thing is FROM God(hama AZ oost). Wahdatul wajood in its extreme form can become Hinduism which propounds that every thing is God while Wahdatul shahood in extreme form ends in salafism, wahabism and total denial of Sufism.

Mujadad Alf Sani Sheikh Serhendi invented wahdatul shahood and that is why in India wahabism took some roots and today in Pashtun areas Sufism is almost uprooted. One way to beat terrorism in Pashtunland is to restore the Sufi circles which existed before 1979.

These are highly interesting nuances and we may explore further by discussing in a meaningful way.

What an earth are you talking about, "wahabism" started from a guy named Muhammed ibn Abdul Wahab who was from najd. What has wahdatul wujood got to do with "wahabism"..lol

I am talking of wahabism in India not in Najd. Please read the history of Sheikh Serhendi. He was the man who gave the two nations theory in India separating Hindus from Muslims by wahdatul Shahood. Wahdatul Shahood has got to do with wahabism in India not wahdatul wajood.

The same thought conmtinues with Salafis like Shah Ismail, Ahmad Brelvi who fought Pashtuns and Sikhs and are the pioneers of terrorism in the region and then the climax is Deoband in one form and Aaligarh movement in another form.

i hesitate to distill it to such a degree for fear of distorting the message, but I believe you're on the right track
