I understand you. I am secular minded. In my life religion has a role when I do meditation or I recite holy Quran or I pray with full focus on the universal energy called God or I help poor because of charity injunctions of Islam or I fast to have a spiritual exercise. I do not tell lie because it is a sin. I do not myrder and I do not steal. All these are useful aspects of religion .

But I do not apply my religion on my politics, economy, culture , education and society. I am a staunch Pashtun culturally and socially and a democrat and Social capitalist. I am a secular liberal free thinker but I value religion for its role. I separate my mosque and state, my mind and my heart, my person and my society.

Beliefs cannot be correct or incorrect. Beliefs are forms of love, emotion, sentiment and affiliation. Logic and reason do not work in the realm of beliefs. If I love a girl I do not need reason for that. If I believe in God reason has nothing to do with that.

        essentially yes

that may be considered a challenge indeed

a nice tautology; "sufism is faith" is enough and it's exact

that's in principle possible; being that the case, it would be a strange way to manifest your faith

you might be considered a skeptic.

but saying "I seriously doubt it" is NOT" atheism.

Where you fall depends on WHY you don't believe in God.

If you think it is impossible to claim knowledge of things for which you have no evidence, then you are agnostic.

If you simply doubt the existence of God for lack of any compelling evidence you are a Skeptic.

If you think that utter lack of evidence argues that such a thing really isn't there- you are an atheist.

Hiya! I'm a beautician new to your forums.

in that sense, american conservatives belief in the invisible hand of the market, despite the recent catastrophic proof the idea is gibberish, is closer to a religious faith. you can tell you are dealing with religious dogma when the believer simply denies all the mountains of evidence that their belief is in error. atheism, as an idea, stands in opposition to all dogma, as it argues that evidence or the lack thereof is what should determine your conclusions

Why don't we focus of the 100s and millions of people dying all over the world and specially the Middle East at the moment instead?? Why do Taliban need to stone people to death if not because of the immorality of their actions. And what are their actions judge by??
But one thing that this kochagasht as well as talib lovers either fail to accept or realize is that the issue here is not the conflict between a religion or the lack of it but what people have taken the liberty of translating, manipulating and defining both of those spheres to.
When that is how you define your religion then that is your religion. Not necessarily Christianity, Judaism or Islam but whatever you claim it to be.
you just changed your stance. man, you guys are a bunch of hypocrites.

That's not a good reason since jews in Iran(a theocracy) live in peace with their neighbors not to mention jews were refuged to Ottman territory during their persecution in Europe. Also religion minorities were persiecuted in secular Germany and other secular states throughout history.
Making a relation with secularism and religious tolerance is weak, very weak.

I have no problem with a jew, a christian , a Hindu if we are neighbors but if I atatck India on the name of Islam then religion will not be the cop out or scap goat for the blood shed. If Taliban for applying Sharia behead people in public squares then religion is a disaster. A Sufi Islam is never dangerous, a Salafi political Islam yes is danger for humanity.
So how do you explain the persecution of religious minorities in secular Germany during WW2 and the Communists in the Soviet Union not to mention a third of the afghan population fleeing their homes during the take over of secular communists in Afghanistan. more evidence of your manipulation.

No. See how little you know about Islam. You criticize a religion that you know nothing about. That's pathetic.

not really. the invisible hand is natural law and natural laws are gods laws.

Theism(religion) and atheism are God or no God centric. The invisible hand of the market is related to economy and market forces not to the super- natural or metaphysical world of God,No God or religion.

There are many other invisible things in life like mind, emotions, love, fear, hate, soul which can be dealt in sciences or pseudo sciences like, psychology, para Psychology, telepathy, spiritual sciences, Scientology etc but these are not related to theism or atheism.

Logic can be a discipline which is more meant for evidence or no evidence as logic is the science or branch of philosophy dealing with valid reasoning or valid argumentation not atheism. Atheism is against all dogma but related to God not to other aspects of life.

Adam Smith wasnt a theologian and the wealth of nations is not a religious book. I doubt that conservatives in America "believe" in the hidden hand as you claim.

because he needs a customer and God knows you would kill for meat. furthermore, you are probably a coward who refrains from confronting jewish butchers about his personal beliefs and views on them upon stepping in to their shop. the alternative will be having common sense and we all know how much you lack in that department.

Soviet Union was a secular state and had strong police; and they persecuted more people in history than any religion ever has.
