Refuting the Notion of Bid'ah Hasanah

The vast majority of scholars agree that an innovation can be a praiseworthy innovation (bid`a hasana). When certain scholars appear to disagree with this, it is a difference in wording. These scholars do not use the word bid`a for praiseworthy innovations because, since praiseworthy "innovations" have a basis in Islam, they are not in reality innovations. According to these scholars, the term bid`a only refers to blameworthy innovations. This is why they disagree with "bid`a hasana."
Wahhabi/"Salafi" arguments, such as those in the website cited above, attempt to mislead Muslims by presenting the scholars' difference in wording as a rejection of praiseworthy innovations.
