Maiwand Jaan. Salaam u Alaikum.
People have been saying that we are living at the end of our time since humans have been able to speak and 'reason'. These claims have tended to be justified by people pointing to 'evidence' such as the world as it is at any given time. That has never changed over the years. Of course these views also exist beyond Islam. Nowadays for example, the end is 'imminent' because of economic collapse, because of ozone depletion, disease etc., but equally these are contentious claims because there are counter claims that people are scaremongering. The opposite view is that there are others who look to signs that it may not be as bad, or there is recovery. Muslims say that too - casual conversations will tell you that Muslims take a lot of pride in the growth of Islam. Either way, which side has the most credible view when they pick/choose their own evidence?
I know as Muslims we believe in the Yaum Al Kiyamah and our lives are a preparation for that. There are Quranic (and Hadeeth) references as our starting point. However, between 6:00 and 7:00 in your video you begin to talk with certainty about those physical signs. With the exception of the tall buildings, isn't it fair to say that corruption/questionable morality etc. has always existed - even 500 years ago? Why are the modern signs known to so few people and what makes one sign more credible than another?Last edited by tor_khan; 02-24-2013, 07:20 PM.

will the world really end? I doubt it. Yes humans can probably be killed off by a natural disaster or by themselves, but the world has been around for 5 billions years at least, and it will probably survive for billions of years to come, we will be replaced by some other form of life

^Even the environmentalists are writing obituaries. According to The Global Footprint Network, we are on borrowed time and yet there are others who point out that over the past 4.2 billion years, 80% of the Earth's existence has been under greenhouse conditions with melted ice-caps. The Earth's temperature moves in cycles - recent increases in greenhouse gas emissions and global temperatures (past 1000 years) is said to be equivalent to the effect of methane outputs of dinosaurs 150 million years ago. The earth could have been scorched dry but still we have had ice ages since. About 10 thousand years ago, substantial areas of Europe and North America was covered in sheet ice glaciers whilst humans walked the earth.
Sure we can't go on living the irresponsible lives that we do, but isn't the 'auto-correct' that sees global temperatures rise/fall etc., part of Allah's design that has enabled Earth recovery?

the quran makes mention of all the creatures in the heavens and the earth.Originally posted by Nurani View PostAllahu 3alam, but I have never read something about it in the Qur'aan. There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
