This is so true that it brings a tear in my eyes. I have a somewhat strain relationship with my dad and it stems from his horrible parenting. Growing up, my dad cared more for his parents and siblings than his wife and kids. A really small example is not buying my a ticket to Pakistan, but give thousands of dollars to his brothers just cause they asked kindly. The same brothers who do not help him when he needs money.

There's alot of Muslim men who have no clue in becoming a father that it should be considered a sin for them to have them. Muslim fathers are strict when in reality they themselves aren't that religious themselves. They view their kids as their objects, similar to the relationship with God and Man.

A fathers role in their children isn't the enforcer; it's being the older friend who guides a child on the journey to adulthood. If you baby your child all the time, the kid will only find ways to sneak activities behind their back.

I used to be in the "Young Muslims" With Nouman a long time ago. It's good to see him continue doing his thang.

You never get your share of anything by cutting someone else off of what is theirs. Our grandparents have rights over their children too and because they are older and more vulnerable, they may need more attention than us.
I would not tolerate ANYONE telling me what I can or can not give to my parents or siblings. Why would I expect someone else to do that?? That will just make them resentful towards me.
Its always a good idea to depend on one's own. we come from a country where children from a very young age support their parents by doing hard labor on empty stomachs. And really, if you want to get somewhere in life, you have to work hard for it because blaming others or feeling sorry for yourself will get you nowhere.
And our parents come from a generation that was born to a very messed up society and time. We can teach them the right way of everything that they do wrong.

When I was younger, I used to yell a lot. I felt angry because I couldn't get my point across and guilty because I couldn't stop yelling at my own parent. When I grew older, I stopped not because I learned better but because it was useless.. we all learned when we gave each other that space to reconsider out behaviors Maybe if you stop demanding for your rights, he will get the opportunity to think over it and realize his mistake. If not, you can always use him as an example on how not to be a father to your own child.
