  • Life OR Religion(belief)

well i want to keep this short, and i thought to put it here instead of the health section, well because i thought this thread is appropriate in both places
i was doing some research(for fun) so i thought to ask this question

In a life threatening situation would you take medications that have pig particles in it?

this all goes back to individual choices.
in another note i met a few people that chose not to be given blood because of their religion(they were not muslims), so if they are ever in an accident and loose alot of blood they did not want to be given any.
in the US u just have to have a little piece of paper in your wallet that says NO BLOOD.

well alot of medications have pig particles in it untill recently about 30 years now they are trying to use synthetic materials to replace porcine. the reason why pork is so popular in pharmaceutics is because of the sequence of amino acids. for example in insulin pigs are more popularly used because only one amino acid is different vs in beef there are three amino acids that are different.

here is a list of medications that have porcine in it, i do apologize but i could not find US version, but if you have any medications in mind let me know and i will research it for you.

People please im not in the mood to be arguing or going back and forth with anyone so please be respectful of others and me.

Life comes first. If there is no life then all things including religion become irrelevant. So if scientifically porcine is better for health one must go for it.

Pork has alot of fats so it is advised not to be eaten as dish and also the habits of pigs specially in past when they used to eat everything thus injurious to health if its meat is taken.

Personally I do not see any connection between food and religion. Religion is for supernatural things and ethics while science, hygiene, taste, nutrition etc should be observed in food.

In medicines its efficacy is of paramount importance not what are its ingredients. Also prescription of a doctor is what matters not what the so called religion or Mulla tells you. What Mulla has to do with food or medicine!

as far as i know, eating haram is fine if it is absolutely necessary.

taking some vitamin with haram ingredients would not be acceptable while something like insulin if it had haram ingredients would be fine because its a matter of life and death while the other is not.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

if someone is dying on an operating table in front of me, I would not be searching his wallet for a note.
