faye, I agree with the anchor person that religion cannot be held responsible for every bad thing in the world ---Neither all religions are the same in terms of their regidity or absolutness. Furthermore, there are profounder questions that need answers e.g. where do the laws that are responsible for the physical phenomena (warmth of the sun, day and nights, etc.), which probably are not at least at present under the purview of science. Nevertheless, I will agree with Dawkin to the extent that religion has most of the time been a roadblock to finding the truth.

the humans make what they want out of any belief system, toramana. look what charlie manson and his devotees did with, 'peace, love and brown rice'.
people can read the qu'ran or bible and interpret what they want from it. same with scientific 'faith and beliefs'.
if scientists and atheists are in control, and think we are just lumps of meat who just happened to evolve a thinking mind, who is to say that they have any morals or ethics against cutting down the world population with their poisons and their bombs? especially religious 'lumps of meat' which they so vehemently disapprove of, or black people, who they think are lesser evolved from apes, than themselves?

atheist communists can be just as murderous and oppressive as religious people.

these new age, atheists, like dorkins and his cronies, have not really been put to the test as to how they will behave as we have no proof of who is and who isn't an atheist on the world stage. but as i have previously put forward, we can see that the scientific fraternity is able to produce some very efficient people killers and environment stuffer uppers.

if someone like bush is claiming to be a christian and has no ethics about invading and manipulating other countries, we think then, that it is a christian action, but is he really a christian, who are the ones behind him and what is their faith or belief?

There are some valid points in your argument faye. But still I think atheists and scientists are not just inhuman bruits. If you carefully listen, Dawkens says morality religion propounds has basis in ancient human experiences and human sense of goodness (instinctive).

As for I can think both motivations can be responsible for Bush's actions though sounds they may be more worldly.

if you read what i wrote, i also did not claim ALL scientists and atheists are just inhuman brutes.
just like ALL religious persons are not 'just inhuman brutes'.

good on him, toramana. you follow him if you want. i already have my own way, consciousness, ideas about reality and creation and free will so don't need an atheist to tell me how to be and what to think.

why would the scientists create this, toramana? who do you think it will be fed to?
Scientists have created the ultimate GM crop: contraceptive corn. Waiving fields of maize may one day save the world from overpopulation.
