I get really fascinated by this subject.

I am in doubt about the Tribes of Israel connection -
but the rest sounds plausible.

Qutwani cloak means "Of Wool and Fringed" like the patou, I assume from the video?
Is there any other distinguishing characteristic of a Qutwani cloak ?
That must be an Arabic word - I just never heard of it previously.

(Khorassan wasn´t a specific place. Khorassan was an area that was called "Khorassan" during the Persian Empire refering to the areas in the east where the sun rises (Khurshed=sun); is Afghanistan Khorassan? Not entirely.)
