One of the major strange things I find about sufism is that concept of "shaikh" I am reading a book written some sufi scholar, and in it describes how a student is suppose to "submit" to his shaikh. This is a very strange concept and it feels like it has nothing to do with Islam. Muslims are only suppose to submit to Allah, not any one else.

lot of things were absorbed from other culture's like Hinduism, in Hinduism you're supposed to treat the Guru as a manifestation of God, that idea crept into Sufism.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
Confusion gets increases when you start following some sufi or wahabi or whatever and at the same time you you listen to other people as well.Originally posted by Karachi View Post^ so what is the correct path. Sufism is wrong, Salafis/wahabis are wrong. All these things make it so confusing for a regular person, he/she doesn't understand what to follow, this is why muslims are in such a confused state
The best approach to the understanding of the Quran is to read it by yourself.

no Sufism isn't wrong; the genuine Sufism is right, but with everything we should have the right and and duty to analyze things critically to observe and determine its merits.Originally posted by Karachi View Post^ so what is the correct path. Wahhabism/Salafism is another story, they took everything backwards
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
