A man asked Ibn Abbas is music halal or haram ?

Ibn Abbas said .. I don't say halal unless Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has made it halal .... I don't say haram unless Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has made of haram .

Abbas said I want to ask you a question ... When truth and falsehood will come on the day of judgment where will you find music ?

Addition : If one wants to quit either smoking,music or any other habbit,one has to reduce it slowly and with time you will imagine,that you have no need for this,it is just time wasting,and makes no sense.

I love music, however its vital to differentiate between good and bad music. When I listen to bad music (lady gaga, katie perry ect) I feel spiritually sick and mentally unsettled. Good music on the other hand has a spiritually uplifting effect on me. Music is ultimately a creative outlet, and in its highest form it is art, which is an expression of beauty. Since God is beautiful and loves beauty, I can glimpse the face of God when listening to a symphony by Beethoven, or a Hungarian rhapsody by Liszt, or a Waltz by Strauss. Strangely enough, I feel closer to God while listening to a composition of classical music than I do when performing the mechanical Salah ritual in a language I do not even understand.

Allah gave knowledge to the man to make nuclear weapons but it does not mean it is halaal. There are so many bad things in human nature but that are haraam.

Man took what Allah gave him and then made nuclear weapons from that, like they made wine from grapes and meat from animals, there's a difference. Even the Prophet David (a.s.) had the gift of music.

Anyway, yes secular music will not take you to heaven and we will be held accountable for what we did in our lives, as they say.

Generally every culture has the same basic types of instruments, just the shape and names change.

Playing the tabla or drum is something which is allowed and accepted in Islam,also the singing of the females on Eid or such events among females is allowed in Islam.

And if men sing among men with drum is allowed.
