  • Taliban Question

    Asalaamu Alaikum,

Just wondering, how many Muslim Afghans here support/like/prefer them to Karzai/USA?

    Define the Taliban first.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

You are asking the question in the wrong place. This forum is dominated by people who live thousands of kilometres away from where normal Pashtuns are. And most members are from non-core areas. Meaning their are from urbanized secular backgrounds with no ties what so ever with people who are "average Pashtuns".

Naturally the views of people on this forum are not representative of all Pashtuns.

And even those who actually support Taliban have different reasons for doing so.

There are those who support Taliban for religious reasons; there are some who support Taliban because they have been wronged by the government and the Americans; then there are those who are criminals and thieves and they love to live as out-laws so they dress up like Taliban and go about doing crime and harass local villagers; and finally, there are many spies, agents and other kinds of filth and trash that go around as "Taliban" and all they do is do evil.

I used to leave in a mud-house on top of a mountain, i worked my work and lived side by side with afghan army soldiers, who worked to get dollars and weapons, they never shot a single bullet in a firefight against insurgents, with no electricity,no water supply (except) which came from the mountains,we used to bath in it and drunk from it.

as Admin Khan said,it must be defined to exclude those people who call themselves Taliban, but are government or CIA Afghan Local Police dressed as Taliban in northern provinces.
