  • Importance of controlling nafs

In Islam one the most beautiful and most important topics in my opinion is about controlling one's nafs

    Nafs of course is:

    Nafs
is an Arabic word (cognate of the Hebrew word "Nefesh" נפש ) which occurs in the Qur'an and means self, psyche,[1] ego or soul. In its unrefined state, "the ego (nafs) is the lowest dimension of man's inward existence, his animal and satanic nature."[2] Nafs is an important concept in the Islamic tradition, especially within Sufism and the discipline of gnosis (Irfan) in Shia Islam. Nafs means inner self - the evil side of your soul. It varies for every person. Tradition states it is a little black spot on the area where the person's heart is and it is mentioned in the hadith that the prophet Muhammad had this spot removed. Nafs is the evil/good form of the soul, basically there's a good side and a bad side. (Islamic definition)

I have heard some lectures about this topic and it is a very spiritual topic.

Unfortunately these days muslims and non muslims alike can't control themselves and their nafs. a good example would be on the lack of emotional control, even on this forum, like when some people argue with the atheists, they totally loose control of their emotions. This is a clear sign that one can not control their nafs

If you learn how to control your nafs, you will be much better at controlling the world around you and what you do in life.

Muslims should do Jihad Against themselves and their nafs

As a requirement of this world being a examination realm for human beings

    commonly........

prohibitions and transgressions seem easier and more attractive than

    permissible.

So the nafs prefers the easy way although it is harmful for him.

If a man/woman prefers listening to the whispers.........of his nafs and

submitting to evil rather than obeying his Lord’s commands,.......he will be a

    slave to desires.

Worse part is, although the heart, soul, conscience and mind have

the ability to differ right from wrong, they also give in to the nafs and each

    becomes an aide of it.

So, if a man wants to live a happy and peaceful life which he won’t

    regret!!

neither in this world!or in the here after.........,he has to learn to control

    and educate the nafs.

Humans are weak...sometimes we give into the nafs through pain and grief.

Turning to suicide...as the nafs...whispers take your life...all

    your troubles will be.......over.

Nafs was created with the soul.

May Allah swt give us strength.......to control the nafs. Ameen
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument.
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness.
