I keep things simple; anyone who advocates people to suicide bomb are following the wrong interpretations; anyone who doesn't follow the right ones

        that should suffice.

Zakir Naik is not a scholar, he has made that clear. He is a Dai, someone that makes dawaah. The scholars of Islam are hiding in their homes and caves not knowing how to utilize modern technology to spread the message of Islam. People like Zakir Naik are not perfect yet they do their best to answer questions about Islam in a manner that reflects modern society and it's demands. What good are scholars who never leave their homes, never bother to reach the masses, and their knowledge dies with them.

Don't hate brother, let's appreciate what this guy is doing.

In the other corner lately an association of former Muslims with supporters of Hitchens and Dawkin have launched websites, youtube channels, facebook pages to challenge Islam. These people are not your average red neck "ISLAM IS OF THE DEVIL" type ignorant crackers. They are using science to come after Islam. I can only wonder what a scholar from Masjid Al-Haram, a memory bank, will level to against the likes of Naik, Tzortzi, Yusuf etc. in such discussions.

Here, just for the laughs and giggles:

I don't blame anything on Zakir Naik.
              He is merely a commodity.
When the demand is there, the supply will be found. If not Naik, someone else.
The trend started with Deedat. He was genuinely curious and eager to learn what the truth was. Naik has been catapulted to stardom off the tail coat of the late Ahmad Deedat, rahimahuallah. So I don't attribute his raise to his "talents" and "characteristics" but merely being present at the right time and the right place.
Good for him. May Allah grant him Jannah. I don't find much fault in his character or his intentions.

The problem is with the Ummah.
The lazy lot that you all are.
Always seeking fatwas like you seek your food - fast and cheap. Run of the mill, prepackaged and colourful and delightful, catered to your convenience and your expedience.
There was a time when the word had power and people knew it's value. Now it's cheap and it has lost appeal. So one brother posts a video in response to another series, saying that the other was of a shia (thus untrusthworthy) and whole heartedly believes in the "sunni" version...and whatever that means. It's just like brand loyalty and with as much zeal and vigour as with any other commodity. Sure enough if the taliban were really raising the black flags that were prophesied, then why aren't you crawling to them? There is a gap ...between what is said and what is done. Surely, we are all guilty of this.

Muslims are weak and the ummah is a big headless giant stumbling and slumbering here and there. It makes sense that at the helm would sit someone like Zakir Naik. After all, he is a doctor. What every Muslim family hopes and dreams their own child would be. And despite all the humdrum you are all modern, in thoughts and behaviour. As science objectifies the world, so do you follow the creed. If you worry that science could trouble a scholar of Islam then it only goes to show how little you know of Islam. The paradigm of science is about to shift sooner or later and whatever qualm it had with religious inspirations will be undone...so there is no need for the shuyukh to run after the sciences...for when the sciences reach the next summit, they will again find the shuyukh sitting there before them.

There was a time when pedagogical pedigrees mattered. And the seekers of knowledge would need more than just answers, but questions. It has been said that to every generation of Muslims one will be sent by Allah to revive the deen amongst them...The mentor of Zakir Naik believed that that person for the last generation was Ruhoallah Khomeni. It would be hard for most of you to swallow that. But Dr. Naik, he is no Ahmad Deedat...not even an inch close to his shadow. And from the responses here, I find it hard to believe that Dr. Naik is that person for this generation. Because if this is true then surely the end of times is much more nearer than we would like it to be. Previous generation could make a claim to Sheikh Albani for inspiring the salafi movement, Sayed Qutub for giving the theological basis for modern day jihad...but now? Zakir Naik ...for having the right answers to of the top 20 questions - Why do women wear hijab? Is evolution true? etc...And let's not forget the franchise fatwa factories that are more likely run on guesswork than any form of theological science to it. You could easily find contradictions between them on any question. Why Zakir Naik can be this popular is because he has the right amount of knowledge that people seek. Not everyone can afford a gucci, so nike will do...Following a real sheikh that "hides in a cave" is more arduous than a sheikh on television. Why isn't there a Sheikh Abu Hanifa or a Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah in this generation? ...

because ...the end of times ..is nigh!

You don't know me so I couldn't care less what you think.

I've prayed in many masajids around the world and listened to many shuyukh of Islam. In the end, they all make references to the same Qur'an and the same books of hadith.

Who ever believes they are following one sect over another is only deluding themselves. And even if I did create my own sect, then so what? How wrong is my creation of a sect, then Naik's creation of his own sect? What makes Naik any better than me? The Quran is in Arabic, the messenger of Allah, an Arab (pbuh) ...and some of you are turning to your own sect for being racist. How is any of you any better?
Al Hanif ...what is his sect? Whabbism? Salafism? those aren't even legitimate sects! They are ideologies.

I have never been to a masjid where the sheikh of that masjid had to identify what madhab he was following. Variation always exist. But variation doesn't mean deviation.

I am not a wahabi nor a salafi. On the other hand, ScimitarXEdge said you quoted Ibn Baz. That makes you a Wahabi ! You and ScimitarXEdge are both illuminated individuals. You are both right about the fact that you are wrong. I am an ignorant. I know almost nothing about Islam. I call myself a muslim because that's what the prophet did (pbuh). Period. To be into a sect, you have to quote what a scholar born after the death of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, to follow his interpretations. You quoted Ibn Baz. ScimitarXEdge quoted mu'tazilas scholars. You both do follow 'sects' and you start calling other people who do not follow your own 'sect' with invented names.

I do not follow any scholar. I only follow the teachings of the Qur'an and the teachings of the hadiths. The 'muslims' here who support the killing of Talibans are contradicting dozens of clear ayats in the Qur'an and no need of interpretation for these ayats.
