^One of the problems with these schools is they completely lack dynamism and take no account of learning styles. You have rows of kids seated on the ground rocking back and forth going over the same lines.

The madrassah 'teachers' are generally non-qualified so who knows what the kids are genuinely learning. There are few 'measurable' outcomes unlike public day schools so there is little accountability. Sadly, that's just the recipe for people trying to get away with lack of care/humiliation/abuse etc.

        Rocking and caning?

What are their score results on standardized tests? In this world, you have to give your children the skills to compete. You don't want them to end up making a living by running drugs, or running around shooting people. Because then they will be dying, and not living.

^Learning through "torture" - you sure about that?

The debate about indiscipline in schools is not the same as sanctioning torture, I think.

Parents must also keep an active role in their children's upbringing. Too many parents want to just offload the job of child-raising to somebody else - like outsourcing.

Schools can teach children the 3 R's - reading, writing and arithmetic. But parents should take an interest in what the child is learning and is being exposed to. You cannot outsource parenthood.

We are increasingly living in a technological world, and therefore technical skills are increasingly necessary to make a living. Children must receive a good educational foundation if they are to acquire the necessary abilities to work technical jobs.

How can one teach children by traumatizing, intimidating or abusing them? You will only create people with psychological disorders.
