  • Before Islam came to the Land of Pashtuns

The other day,Abu Baker, made a point, that are you "StrategistMaseed" trying to say, that Islam brought no good to the "Conquered" lands?

What is your view members, do you feel Pashtuns were more united, Better off before Islam came or do you feel we benefited in any way from Islam.

In my view, Iam abit confused, because i never hear any stories about Pashtuns accepting Islam out of choice, all i hear is about the Qais story, Bani Israelites, bin waleed etc.

I am neutral in this, I am no side, I am just abit curious

In Surah Jinn, it is mentioned that a group of jinn came to visit the Holy Prophet (saw). Some scholars have concluded that these jinn were from Afghanistan. Jinn has many meanings, I won't get into it. However, one meaning is "chief" and according to the Holy Quran this visit by these "jinn" points to the fact that Islam was brought to Afghanistan by these tribal elders. These are known to be the Bani Israeel elders who had settled in Afghanistan after their migration from the persecution of the Babyloneon Empire.

According to Jewish scriptures the Children of Israel were foretold of the coming of "the Prophet." This "Prophet" has been categorically proven to be Hadhrat Muhammad (saw).
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

So it was this jin who brought Islam to Afghanistan and who are these scholers? What about Mahmood Ghaznavi and the Arabs and their Military conquests?

History can be easily distorted. My best-friend's brother-in-law who is doing his Ph.D. on the origins of recordings of Afghan history is on the verge of concluding that a lot of our history is very much fabricated and not true.

The real source of Afghan history seems to be still preserved among the Pashtun tribes all over Afghanistan. Unfortunately, our land does not have a good literacy rate; therefore, these gems are hidden. I hope that someone will become a devout historian for the sake of Allah and go all over Afghanistan and re-write history with the fear of Allah in his heart.

Don't forget dear brother, that history is an interpretation of what happened.

I have always been a firm believer that Islam never spread with the sword. These are the propaganda that the elite of the Persian Empire during the reign of Amirul Mu'mineen Hadhrat Umar Farooq ibn Khattab (ra) concocted.

I believe that the Zoroastrians and the adherents of the teaching of Moses whom pretty much covered the then Persian Empire accepted Islam with open arms.

Historians have misinterpreted the war between the Persian Empire and the early Muslim army. The Muslim army did not attack the Persians to convert them. The Persians wanted to obliterate the Muslims once and for all. The war that ensued was sparked by Persian ambitions to get rid of the Muslims.

Nonetheless, the Muslims won. Thereafter, they spread the message of Islam. Of course, don't get me wrong, you had certain Muslims who caused some headaches but this was not in line with the commandments of Hadhrat Umar (ra). The Persian-Muslim war was not initiated by the early Muslims to convert the Persians.

To make the matter even more interesting, when the wealth of the Persian Empire was brought to Hadhrat Umar (ra), he, Hadhrat Umar (ra), called for Hadhrat Suraqa bin Malik (ra). He made Hadhrat Suraqa (ra) wear the bengals that belonged to the Empire. Hadhrat Muhammad (saw) had prophesied that Hadhrat Suraqa (ra) would wear these bengals one day. So, Hadhrat Umar (ra) wanted to fulfill the prophesy.

When I take in the foretold history of Islam versus the actual unfolding of the events, with respect to Islamic history, it only makes me wonder how much has been fabricated by historians.

The early Muslims knew Islam very well, they lived in the time of the Prophet (saw), they ate and fought along his side, they knew that the spread of Islam was not through land acquisition, but rather by spiritual means.

This is the reason why Hadhrat Hussein (ra) was killed by Yazid.

The early days of Islam, in what we know today as Afghanistan and Iran, were not by means of force. These people were awaiting the coming of the final law-bearing prophet because of the prophecies of their own scriptures.

Those who were against them were elites and had the ability to write history and this is why our history is so confusing. Allah Ta'ala clearly says in the Holy Quran that there is no compulsion in religion. How could Hadhrat Umar (ra) misinterpret this? Impossible! He (ra) had the best teacher (saw).

I will give you one example of how this has happened in our times.

A short while after 9/11, American history books were re-written, by those who were in power--not by real historians. These new revisions had it that Muslims cause the Twin Towers to fall. It may be true, I don't know, however it has never been proven. Yet, for the rest of our lives we will believe that Muslims were behind it. However, what should have been written was: "It was suspected that Muslims did it; however it has never been proven."

There have been many theories how 9/11 happened, however, we will forever know that Musilms did.

This is how history is distorted. That is why you should always read from many sources.

The claim of Bani Israel, is a myth, Pashtuns are not Jews nor israelites.

There are only a few tribes that are noted for being Israelite related due to region names and tribal identity such as afridi, musakhel, durrani etc, while other Pashtun groups are regarded as outsiders.

How can you make up stuff like the elite rewrote history.

Obviously, there must be force to convert natives of a land who followed the same culture and their own faiths for the 1000's of years of their existance.

Please look at the history a bit objectively. There is absolutely no justification for the invasion of the Arab beduoins of the Persian civilization. The people was subjugated and the Persian language was brutally suppressed. The non-Arabs were labelled as Mawalis and they were considered inferior to the Arabs. A Persian was not allowed to lead the prayer infront of an Arab and a Persian was not allowed to marry an Arab women.
As a matter of fact, Pashtuns fought the Arab invaders for the best part of two centuries. It was only during the riegn of Mahmud ye Ghaznavi that wholesale conversions to Islam took place.
There were no Persian ambitions. This is a typical case of wanting to overlook one's own mistakes. Iraq (then Sassanid Mesopotamia) was a rich agricultural land. To the beduoins of the arid Arabia, it was a dream come true. Hence, Qadisiya and Nehavand all that mayhem.

What happened after the Righteous Caliphate was not the reflections of Islam. Islam even foretold of the brutal caliphates that were to appear after the Righteous Caliphate.

What I am arguing here is how the message spread to Afghanistan in the time of the Prophet (saw) himself. Also, what I am arguing is that Hadhrat Umar (ra) never had the intention to invade the Persian Empire in order to acquire their land.

Hadhrat Ali (ra) was encouraged by some to invade I believe it was Yemen. Hadhrat Ali (ra) refused and reminded that it is not about land acquisition.

My dear friends, please understand why is it that we have been told to stick to the sunnah--for one reason: so as to not confuse politically minded people with those who were not.

Just as I am told to look at things objectively, I request the same from you brothers.

MWMN is right. Islam were brought to pashtun lands by tribal elders who were sent to Mecca by their own tribes. When they came back from Mecca they were already muslims and after holding several jirgas many pashtun tribes converted to Islam BUT NOT ALL tribes!

Maybe some of them were Bani Israel but they have assimilated INTO PASHTUN TRIBAL SOCIETY with their new religion and thats why were have tribes like ghlzay or durrani that consist of millions of people.

I dont know exactly about Kabul or Herat but I know that people of Kabulistan were fighting Baghdad caliphs who came to spread Islam upon them.

My dear brother, obviously not all of Afghanistan is from the tribe of Israelites.

One thing that you have to remember, in the USSR, people were forbidden to worship God. After the fall of the USSR and the creation of the CIS, people went right back to worshiping God.

                              Okay lets see.

The first Caliphate fought the people of Bahrain and Oman because they rightly refused to pay taxes to a government they were not inclusive of. The antics of Moslem generals in these battles and others against the Prophethood claimants would shame Nero. (Malik bin Nawera and his wife).
The second Caliphate invaded lands and peoples right, left and centre. Persia and Egypt and others. Both were fertile lands that had immense attraction for the grain-less Arabs. The civilization of the Persian empire was ruined by these barbarians.
The third Caliphate was an Umayyad dynastic rule. The governors were Umayyads and the PM (Amr bin Aas) was an Umayyad. Indeed the 'Shura' of 3rd Caliphate fame was in the hands of Abdur Rahman bin Auf, a prominent and rich fuedal with strong connections to the 3rd Caliph and the Umayyads.
What I am saying is that we should accept that Islam is like all other religions. It was subjugated at first but then it itself turned tyrannical and imperialistic. As soon as it aquired power (ala Constantine) it oppressed other peoples and nations as is the case with all religions.
