    Wa `alaykum as-Salam

Brother, Islamqa is not a reliable source for answers. Their methodology is not traditional and many of the answers are false and misleading.

There are several reliable websites that provide online courses and question-and-answer services. Among them:

    SunniPath

    SeekersGuidance

    DarulIftaa
SeekersGuidance - Online Courses, IslamCast, Answers

SunniPath - The Online Islamic Academy

Sunnipath exposed: SP defends Shi’ia Istighatha and calling on Ali r.a

Asalamu alaikom wa Rahmat Allahi wa Barakatuh.

This post will inshallah be one of many which will highlight the extremely misguided Aqeedah that Sunnipath (a popular fatwa site) is spreading and teaching to it’s unaware students.

Faraz Rabbani (famous ”sheikh” who visited Australia recently) was asked whether it is okay to say “Ya Ali I invoke thee”, as the shiias often do. Please see his response.

        Question:
I see on some internet forums, people writing such things as “Ya Ali I invoke thee” – I wanted to know is it allowed to say such things? Does this not smack of shirk?
        Answer:

Wa`alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

        There are a few issues:

        a) It is a fundamental belief of Muslims that only Allah benefits or harms; that only Allah gives and takes;
        b) It is also a fundamental belief of Muslims that Allah has created means for humans to take;
        c) However, the relationship between these created means and their effects is only normative: it is Allah who creates the means, and Allah who creates the results.

This is why Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Shaghouri (Allah have mercy on him), the great spiritual guide and master of the sciences of faith (aqida) from Damascus, explained,

“Taking means is necessary, and denying that they are effective is necessary. Whoever negates means is denying the Wisdom of Allah, and whoever relies upon means is associating others with Allah.”

This is the understanding upon which Muslims ‘call upon other than Allah.’ It is no different from taking medicine when sick, or going to a mechanic when your car is giving trouble: if you think that the medicine itself creates the healing, or that the mechanic is the one himself creates the fixing, then you have serious innovation in belief. The sound understanding is that Allah creates the healing when you use the medicine, and He creates the fixing when the mechanic does their job: we affirm these means, but also affirm that it is Allah who created both the means and the resultant effect.

This is pure affirmation of Divine Oneness. How can it ‘smack of shirk.’

        Wassalam,

        Faraz Rabbani
Calling on Other than Allah? (Link to fatwa)

The above is what Sunnipath says on this matter,

        However,

What does Allah s.w.t say about these matters?

And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah , so do not invoke with Allah anyone [72:18] and what did the pagans of Quraish say when they were asked about worshipping other than Allah s.w.t? Did they use the same excuses that we hear today, that their idols are only a means of nearness to Allah sw.t?

Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], “We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position.” Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever. [39:3]

I advise my brothers and sisters who blindly followed this “scholar”, and who currently blindly follow Sunnipath, to read the Qur’an, read the Seerah, Seek knowledge, and Repent. Verily Allah s.w.t is all merciful and forgiving. This is not a matter of pride nor is it a competition, this is our Akhirah!

May Allah s.w.t protect us from those who call others away from Tawheed, May he make our hearts Steadfast on his deen, May he make our hearts firm on the truth, and May Allah s.w.t make our hearts Steadfast in obeying him.

Its funny, this Mujib person promotes a website that promotes shirk and he goes around labeling others as misguided.

Committing shirk takes one out of the fold of Islam. And you promote shirk. What does that make you? A TAGHOOT!

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani's answer is clear and self-explanatory. Tawassul/Istighatha is permissible according to all four schools in Islam. It was taught by the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) himself. It is explained in detail in the answers at SunniPath.com. Search under "tawassul" in the Answers page.

                Is this not takfir?

When the Wahhabi fitna first arose in Arabia the Wahhabi leaders issued fatwas labeling the Muslims of their land as mushriks and kafirs and declaring their blood and property as lawful. On the basis of these fatwas their followers attacked and killed Muslims. Until this day Wahhabis consider the vast majority of Muslims to be misguided and charge them with shirk and kufr. This takfir (labeling Muslims as kafir) allows extremists to blow up masjids, to fight and kill Muslims throughout the Muslim world.

May Allah rid Afghanistan and our lands of this fitna.

I want Islam of prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, the Islam taught and practised by Abu bakkar, Omar, Osman and Ali R.A ajmaeen. I don't want Islam of those who use Islam for their own motives, who practice Islamic teaching of their own choice, who never quote and follow the clear verses of Quraan and hadis but always run after ambiguous verses, who always make people confused regarding Quran and hadith, who always adds from their own side, who says singing is not prohibited in Islam, who says dancing is not prohibited in Islam, who says intermingling is not prohibited in Islam, who make money taking the name of Islam, who don't even take the name of jihad when they teach their own brand of Islam, who has always supported the oppressors in different ways, who says no one has direct contact with Allah but you have to have someone to contact Allah. who says we can't ask Allah directly for help but we have to ask others first. taubah.
It means saying "ya Allah madad" is useless because Allah will not listen to us so will not help us, taubah.

Islam is not a democracy where majority and minority decide what is correct and what is not.

Our criterion is Quran and Sunnah of Rasul Allah sal allahu alayhi wasalam and Sunnah of the Sahaba. Ahlul Sunnah stands for Sunnah of the Prophet and Jam'ah stands for consensus of the Sahaba and the scholars who followed their methodology.

And yes, your sufi monk Rabani is definately a kaafir. Not making takfir on a mushrik is Irja. So making takfir on him is obligatory.

And what is typical for Hindu-like Sufis is their subversive way of making takfir on Ahlul Sunnah by fabrication false stories and using Shi'ite terminology ( wahhabi) to demonize people.

Oh and someone who calls upon other than Allah is a kaafir. Dead people lying in their graves cannot help themselves. By believing to be able to get aid from someone living in a grave you become a mushrik.

So if you believe in the same stuff Faraz Mushriki believes in you are likewise a mushrik.
