Harun Yahya is a charlatan who poses as an Islamic caller. In fact he is an extremist Sufi who believes in pantheism and promotes anti Islamic values such as free mixing of genders.

Dawah means the act of inviting or calling someone to something. In Islam, someone who preaches Islam is refered to a sa a da'iy which is translated to caller.

Harun Yahya does not even have a proper Islamic education.

basically, every Muslim who knows even one verse of Quran and knows its meaning and its application is allowed to preach that specific verse of Quran.

But in order to become a specialised caller, you must at least have a decade of formal education in various sciences of Islam.

The Prophet Muhammad Sal allahu alayhi wasalam prepared his companions for 13 years in Mekkah. After the 13 years his companions spread the religion across the globe.

Thats why if you want to preach Islam you must be thoroughly grounded in various sciences such as Quran, its recitation, its translation, its commentary and its various types of applications.

Aside from knowledge, one must be educated and cultured in accordance to the Shariah. One cannot be a walking library of Islam without having the manners and etiquettes of a Muslim.

Harun Yahya or Adnan Oktay is someone who does free mixing with women, he touches women in public and he even flirts with journalists and tv hosts.

How can someone who doesn't have the piety of a Muslim become a caller?

Yes you are right. After watching this video I see too that the energy he
exudes is not very pure.
There IS a sense of something else emanating from him as he communicates to the
Turkish journalist.
Was it she who you meant, probably, and posted this as example ?
He seems to suffer from "star appeal" himself, perhaps?!

It took me awhile to connect with who this "shakira" was -
I thought they were talking about a Turkish girl descended from the Ottomans who is pious.

So all those compliments about the celebrity - whoever she is, I wouldn't even like to look her up to find out -
seem a little too worldly of Harun Yahya.
At the minimum, he displays poor judgment of people...or too willing to please
the audience with all the praise heaped upon her.

I guess Adnan Oktay must be Turkish too?
Well I guess this type appeals to those Westernized types who are trying to
rediscover their Islamic roots.

Suitable for TV shows but not really up to par as authentic teacher

Here is an excellent talk given by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan recently about the importance of knowing the difference between the da`ee (caller to Islam) and the scholar, something which is often confused:
