  • Islam and Nuclear Power?

I wonder what the Islamic opinion on Nuclear power is. That is power used for energy purposes and not warfare.

This is taking into account the risks of nuclear meltdown, power station security and just the potential to cause widespread havoc.

I am assuming it would be preferrable to use alternative sources but what if the only alternatives were highly innefficient and highly polluting? (we are told to look after the environment).

    Anyone here got any ideas?

I have always believed Islam is about protecting and maintaining God's creation as this is the order and system of nature by which all things function and operate. When we interfere too deeply with it it upsets a special balance between everything.

The dangers of Nuclear Power are immense; and have long lasting damages to the environment and biological species. At the same time we cannot undermine the fact that we're in a position where we must galvanize ourselves against other injustices to our planet and it's inhabitants and build up a vanguard to oppose and subdue it. It's not black and white but there is a trade off; do we develop nuclear power and advance our technological resources so we can repel and thwart the corrupt decadent culture of materialism. Or do we just hope God will somehow rent asunder their megalithic plague from our planet. I believe technology is about wise usage of tools; if we can use something wisely and not misuse it where it can have potentially long lasting dangers; then we should utilize it optimally. If we can somehow do this with Nuclear Power; then yes it should be applied So long as the Contextual threat of Materialism looms.

Eventually one day we wont need any technology at all we'll return to a Natural way of life just as God intended, that's the goal; but in the intermediary we will have to use some technology to confront road blocks to that goal.

      Cognitive dissonance much?

You are saying it is a necessary evil? Even after what happened at fukoshima ...you still think the benefits out weigh the risks?

It's funny how you are so anti-suicide bombing ...then just as easily justify massacres and weapons that kill indiscriminatley. How do you do that?

so ...just a question...do you go camping often?

Your idiotic attempts at straw man arguments and disuading from what is actually being stated in someone sposts have always demonstrated how riduculous most of your comments are. I have not once mentioned weapons in any of this.

I never said kill indiscriminately; remember an encampment of farangis who came by means of a military invasion; is not indiscriminate. They're as much apart of the military force as the ones with guns.

                  idiotic and ridiculous?

"thwart our enemies" ..."build a vanguard to oppose and subdue" ...

sounds like a call to arms...anyone disagrees?

I am pretty sure this is exactly how the members of congress justified the use of depleted uranium warheads ...how the hawks worded the "project for a new american century" ...

Nuclear power isn't just dangerous it is always massively state subidised and it never makes money.

SAUDI Arabia plans to build 16 nuclear power reactors by 2030 which could costs more than $100 billion (£60bn), a Saudi-based newspaper reported yesterday, citing a top official.
Whilst Saudi and the other Gulf states are rapidly running out of oil. It could be that Iran's weapons program has ignited a regional nuclear arms race.

That doesn't necessarily equate to nuclear weapons but technological fortification in general which can be brought about by breakthroughs in power generation, nuclear or not. If not nuclear, then it only seems sensible to use nuclear as an alternative. Let alone you ignored more than 80% of the post to distort and take things out of context for whatever absurd motive you have.
