  • Sufism

What on earth is Sufism? I know it's some sort of spirtual thing, but that's all I know. I was with one of my cousins, and he's like a want to work my way to be Sufi. I was like huh? How the hell are you Sufi know? He says one isn't Sufi overnight but it's a long process.

I was taken aback, no one in my family is a Sufi; all of the sudden my little cousin is obsessed over it. Can someone edify me?

To get on the sufi path, your cousin would first needs to find a "pir", a learned sage, to guide him towards spiritual ascension and enlightenment. Typically he would join a "tariqa". As a part of his "training", he would be required to spend a great deal of his time alone in a room doing zikr, only coming out to do the salat in congregation with fellow muslims. He would also spend many days fasting, reading the quran and other islamic great works on spirituality, gnosticism, philosophy and perhaps even the poetry of rumi, al-arabi, hafiz etc. Like he said, it doesn't happen overnight, but a life time of dedication.

Ask your brother if there is a clear and evident proof for Sufism in Qur'an and Sunnah.

The word Sufi or Sufiyyah does not appear in Qur'an or any Sahih Hadith.

Neither did the Prophet Muhammad sal allahu alayhi wasalam ever do any of the head-banging whirling and anything other common in Sufism.

So any self respecting and honest person should denounce Sufism as something not from Islam.

Sufism is a modern construct designed to create pacified (read neutered) muslims by injecting pro-zionist and anti-islamic political thoughts. It's not working. The sufis on the other hand, like Rumi (who loved the Prophet and his teachings, was educated in a madrassah, and was a mullah), the nashqbandis, suhrawardys, on were Muslims first, and muslims only. The saints so revered today by ones trying to seperate the concepts of sufis from Islam were all what you would call "islamists". They were the first ones to rise up and do jihad. Their thought process was from and within Islam.

^ Fzpz ! This the best concise summary that i have seen!
I wish all those who are following fake "masters" and "Pirs" will read this
and have their eyes opened wide by Allah [swt] !
They don't even realize what this whole movement has grown into
or let's say BEEN SHAPED into or MANIPULATED into, even worse, by
unfriendly forces like you said, pro-Zionist.

My suspicion is that the TRUTH HURTS~!

So members here, for one example, become infuriated - VERY STRANGELY for a Sufi orientation may I say !! -
when someone tries to bring to the light of day these highly unpleasant realities.

Maulana has been perverted into some kind of peacenik flower child by
modern American "sufis" to suit Hippie-Era minds.

It's so obvious if you look at what they say.
Then too, all this fake "interfaith" yakkety-yak.
That is all false and a sign of the wedge being driven in to
divide the Islamic world and its followers among Westerner "seekers"
                  of supposed wisdom.
Usually that type USED to end up in Inayat Khan's Sufi Dancing movement.

In recent decades that type is drawn into the fold of "The New Improved" version of Maulana Rumi Balkhi !

Yes, my avatar is a venerable Turkish
                      anti-evil eye design.
I put it here to ward off the attacks of various women, and one or two men, on the forum here.
One of the members was insulting the concept of chastity, revealing a filthy mind, so I put Hazrat-i-Maryam on purpose to convey that she was insulting
                      Hazrat-i-Maryam by attacking Purity/Chastity/Virginity.

I don't have a problem sufis. Most aren't the hippie type. It's important to note that most sufis don't adhere to a pacified version of islam. All of Islam, including the love for other muslims, Islam, and jihad are as much their ideals as any other muslims'. That's why i said it's not working, though some think-tanks like RAND and our esteemed president Zardari are trying to inculcate such perversions into societies through Counils on Sufism etc. You will always have some communities that blend native pre-islamic customs/cultures into sufism. They're inconsequential.

superstitious and sufism have no place in islam. you are in the 21th century refusing to think rationally by believing in the magical powers of an object. find your brain woman...

you will find so many so many contradictions when you compare suffism and Quranic verses and sahih hadith.
and Islam is the only religion which has got no contradictions so it seems to be something else
