I think he means that some will not stick with it. That's my opinion about Americans and Westerners.
You have to have more of a foundation of being around Muslims, I think, to make such a radical change in your life.
Some of the girls - not necessarily featured here - are emotionally unstable to start with.
They can get attention this way, having a Youtube video, which they would not gain otherwise perhaps.
I guess among Americans only a few will stay with their new religion.
I am trying to bring up an unpleasant point here.
You guys may not understand but there is SO MUCH INDOCTRINATION AGAINST Islam that the average American/European/Westerner will have absorbed this DEEPLY from childhood.
My guess is that some Americans, etc. will stay with it for awhile and then something will change and they will quietly stop practicing.
Not to be negative but to mention what MAY happen, before everyone rejoices so much.
Now Easterners, Philipinos, Hispanics, these are much more likely to stay with Islam.
Japanese and Koreans also convert to other religions as they are more religious in their foundation. Not just Islam.
Whereas Americans don't even have that belief in God any longer. It's almost gone from public life == and even private life, tragically.
So I tend to regard their conversions as with a small element of doubt.
Out of all these here so far, I thought the first woman journalist was the most real. I looked on youtube for her name but saw long arguments in the comment section, not any info about HER.
She was natural, and had some spark to her. She presented very understandable reasons. Apparently the film was from Egypt? Nothing was too clear.
I liked best of all these her way of speaking.
Yvonne Ridley is good for the masses. But her lower class manner puts me off. She has used kind of vulgar terms as a Muslim, which i don't care for
Her past life was so tumultuous - she even wrote a RACY novel before conversion which she is trying to suppress memory of now - that she really bothers me as a PERSON.
Her political writings are strong, and she's standing up.
But I wouldn't want her to be a personal friend !
I'm speaking honestly off the cuff here for the benefit of anyone who may have similar reactions. In case there ARE any on this site.
The sincere ones, like the first woman journalist are great, however.
