    The Hand of the Prophet

Physically, the hands of the Prophet, may Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him, were as beautiful and pleasing to gaze upon as everything else about him. They were white and fleshy, with slightly tapering fingers. His boy-servant, Anas ibn Mālik, said on more than one occasion, "I have never touched any silk or brocade that is softer than the palm of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, nor have I ever smelled musk or scent more fragrant than the fragrance of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him."[3]

Wā’il ibn Hajar said, "Whenever I shook hands with the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, or my skin touched his skin, I smelled the scent of musk on my hand for three days." [4]

Another Companion, ‘Umayra daughter of Sahl, also a child at the time, recounted how her father once took her to the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, asking him to touch her head and pray for both of them for baraka, since she was his only child. "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, placed his hands on my head. I swear by Allah that I could feel the coolness of the hand of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, in my liver!" [5]

Jābir ibn Samura said, “I prayed with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, the first prayer, then he went out and I went out with him. He was met by some children and rubbed their cheeks one by one. As for myself, he rubbed my cheek and I found that his hand was cool and fragrant, as if he had just taken it out of a perfume vendor’s bag."[6]

Contact Brother Feraidoon Mojaddedi or the Rumi Bookstore; I'm sure there are some tickets. I was able to get tickets last year after they were sold out.

Mujib, can you please produce the text of Ibn Rajab, Ibn Hajar and Suyuti where they approve of the mawilid?

And Qasidah burdah is a poem of pure shirk. The people who chant this burdah become mushriks because they take the prophet muhammad sal allahu alayhi wasalam as their rab.

              Astaghfirullah.

Why don't you provide proof for this statement.

While you're condemning yourself, why don't you go ahead and make takfir of the Ulema who recited the Burdah?

qasidah burda is a chant of shirk. I do not need to make takfir of your so called "ulema".

They might be just as misguided as you are.

You don't even know who I am, though I now know who you are, and it isn't pretty.

As for your claim that the Qasidah Burdah is a "chant of shirk," then I again ask what you have to say about those Ulema of Islam whom had no problem with it.

Unless you claim that Ibn Hajr al-Haythami Rahmat Allahi Alayh is "misguided," for example.

The videos are of lectures and songs related to the Mawlid, not responses to him. Read the first post to understand the purpose of this thread: "This is a thread for poetry, songs, announcements, and other material related to the auspicious occasion of the Birth of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace)."

Unfortunately, we cannot help if certain readers attempt to derail the thread.

As for his "proof from quran and hadith," celebrating the Mawlid is permissible according to the majority of scholars, among them Imam Ibn Hajar (ra), the great imam of hadith and fiqh. Do the likes of Imam Ibn Hajar (ra) know the Qur'an and Hadith better, or do non-scholars who misquote verses and hadiths?

So who ended up going to the Bay Area event? Anyone? How was it? I wish I went this year!
"Do not lose hope in adversity and complain that God singled you out for punishment, remitting others guilty of worse sins. Your present state could very well be His intent to elevate your spiritual station. Or He could just be testing your faith. Everyday that you persevere, you grow closer to perfection. Thus, your present despair may be the beginning of an infinite blessing". - Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

I went. It was great. Shaykh Hamza presented a slide show detailing the Prophet's (Allah bless him and give him peace) blessed lineage back to Sayyidina Ibrahim (upon whom be peace).
