Well firstly they don't; and secondly because Islam is a religion of balance you can't be balanced if you're trying to over compensate for something. Which is what feminism is aimed at doing , believing they need to elevate women to equalize with men.

The idea of "Muslim feminism" as you convey it is really a Trojan Horse of Imperialist Enterprise, the Capitalist design for the rest of the world, on how they want to mold peoples natural way of life to conform to their global exploitation agenda.

Biological evidence is that ecologically it has no niche in a species. So no I don't accept it at face value, they maybe homosexual for whatever other causes/reasons than pure volition, but it doesn't mean it's not a developmental abnormality.

It looks to me like you confuse interdependence with independence. What you want to say, I assume, is that a woman should not be subjugated by a man. But you make it seem as though we don't need men at all, as if men are useless. If that's the case, what do we need women for?

A woman's independence should not be and is not subject to her need or lack of need for a man. I am fully independent, and I'm entirely supportive of women's independence. But I need men as much as men need me (a woman) because this world requires the existence of women, men, and all other genders around us.

Maybe you don't need a man, but I certainly do. No, not because I can't take care of myself, not because I need him to suck up his money, or to use him to feed my children, or to use him to have a child. But I need men as much as I need women. I need my beloved (he's a man) for a million things I don't need to mention, I need my father (he's a man) for a million things I don't need to mention as much as I need my mother, I need my male teachers as much as I need my female teachers, and so on.

So I think your argument needs some clarification. Yes, we have developed the valor and space to finally speak our mind as women; we can finally say that we are just as capable of interpreting a religious text as men are, we are just as intelligent (if not more) as any other human can be, but what does this have to do with needing a man or a woman?
You are confused. There are too many contradictions in your post.

On a side note, I find that women should not be subjugated to moral laws instilled by men. I fully support the women in your avatar.

        • feminism-belief in societal, political and economic equality of the sexes. is that established now?
abeille feminism does not mean to take on the behaviours that women consider negative in men. what does the word 'respect mean to you? you said you do not respect your father even though he was supportive. does that mean you do not love or care for him also?
not every man is in need of oppressing women and men make life interesting most of the time. i would be extremely bored being just around females.

Care to point them out? As many as possible, but definitely at least three.
I'm also interested in whether you think we need women at all, too. Please do let me know.

P.S. Don't let others tell you what feminism is or what feminists are like. Everyone thinks they know what it is, but not one will give you a definition that most feminists will agree with. I personally prefer bell hook's definition.

But, yeah, I'll be waiting to hear the "too many" contradictions in my post. Feminist-to-feminist sorta like thingie, kha? (Pa Pukhto pohege, guley?)

For one, we want to have what we find necessary in order to compete with men.

If my father is fine with other men marrying other multiple wives, then I don't respect him. His thoughts are poisonous. It only takes one misguided person to act upon his thoughts in order to spoil one woman's life.

You mentioned that you are independent but are still in need of men.

                Two women can do it.

We don't need men because they are the reason why we are suffering.

perhaps that is why women are said to have more leniency towards intuition as a substitute for analytical thinking or perhaps due to centuries of lack of education due to...........truth is personal. everyone has their own interpretation of what is truth. that's not truth then, truth is the most irreduceable state that one can find in regards to a certain feature of our universe/existence etc. If it's personal, then it's NOT Truth.

You're excused , I understand that males and females have different tendencies (not capabilities) and people will reflect that in their lives. That is a TRUTH, not a personal assessment.

You're right they are the reason you are suffering, and yet you play right into it by embracing self destructiveness

How would it curb over population? would it stop already existing heterosexuals from breeding? No

                            try again.

I forget which feminist scholar made this brilliant point once, but it goes something like: Some feminists misunderstand the underlying purpose of feminism by attempting to "compete" with men.

Why are you competing with men, Abeille? In all competitions, there are winners and there are losers; I wonder which one will be the winner and which one the loser in this particular competition.

Why can't we view this world as one big company with a group of people working together to make it a success? And, no, the leaders will not be men; the leaders will be the ones who make good enough leaders, which is not dependent upon one's gender but on one's leadership skills, knowledge, etc.

More importantly, don't think that you, a feminist yourself, have any authority tell other feminists (e.g., me) what feminism is. I study feminism; I adore feminism; I value feminism... I live feminism. But studying it, I have learned that there are many different types of feminism, and that's why some feminist scholars actually prefer to use it as a plural term (feminisms). You seem to support the one that most people hate ALL feminisms and feminists for, which is that men are the reasons women are oppressed, men are horrible human beings, let's wipe them off the face of the earth, etc., etc. If you're a feminist like you want to appear to be, then you should be honest enough to educate yourself about the other forms as well, which include the one that the physiological differences between women and men are no excuse to subjugate women or to use as the reason for women's seclusion from society or to deny women much of what has been permitted to men, and so on.

By your definition of feminism, a man cannot be a feminist. This is absolutely untrue, because there are several feminist men. Take a look at one of my favorite blogs, for example: Muslim Reverie This blogger is a genius!

As far as polygyny and polyandry are concerned, I will be blogging about it soon when I get a chance at Islam and Gender. It's one of my most favorite topics for discussion.
