  • Sayyid Jamaluddin Al-'Afghani

One of the men of history and modern era who I draw inspiration from and have high regards for. I don't agree with everything he taught or argued, nor do I believe he was without error. However his essential doctrine of Pan-Islam is something which needs to be understood and drawn upon so we can disengage from the control of the colonial and imperial powers; both in their cultural intrusion and hegemony and their economic, environmental, scientific, academic and political one.

He is truly "Da Kunarh Ghamai"

    Enjoy

Many Tradtionalists bad mouth him; but that's because he shunned their power base.

OK! GYE, thanks I 'm glad you said that.
I thought I was out of line perhaps in bringing up negatives.

All I want is to get to the truth about this elusive figure.

My computer seems exhausted it barely works after typing so many posts in such a short time that I'm going to watch the video & continue all these discussions tomorrow.

I see my beautiful Istanbul pictured there in the video - I know Al Afghani died there.
What a mysterious character he seems to have been!
let's all delve into the truth about him
        fearlessly.

          People always bring out negatives

many people label our Beloved Nabi (salli Allaho 'alayhi wa salam) as a brigand, philandering pillager with epilepsy. Or that he lied about being illiterate.

look at the actual things he did not "alleged" to do. and that's the reality we should go by.

he certainly wasn't without error, but his arguments on his essential ideas were brilliant.

The identity of Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani is controversial...Most likely, he was an Iranian...He is considered Afghan but few Afghan are aware of him lest know about his ideology....His ideas were kind of anachronistic and impracticable...

Iranians tend to call him "Jamaluddin Assadabadi [Afghani]"
They say he was born in a town near Hamadan, Assadabad, and chose the
birthplace he claimed for some political reasons.
I am highly suspicious of him as a Mason and for his bizarre intrigues.
Running here, running there, appealing to Russia to invade India, then going to London, back and forth
                        all over the map :
                        it seems crazy.

Then his disciple assassinating the Qajar Nasereddin Shah a few days before the latter's 50 th anniversary of reign -
                        I don't like this guy.

Then he has managed to even cause trouble in recent decades here in America - !
The neocons seized upon his writings urging a unification of Islamic states
as a huge excuse to persecute any and all Islamic types on the basis that they
are striving to create a Caliphate.

Perhaps this "evidence" was used behind the scenes, too, to persuade reluctant
American officials to cooperate with invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and to
                        contain Iran.
The awful neocons brandished Jamaluddin Afghani's writings as perhaps]
the main proof that the US should strike Muslims first before they could put together this caliphate.
Little did most anyone know that that project was not about to be realized in
                        such quick order.

Ironically, the actions of these same neocons and their supporters in all levels of govt, academia etc has made Muslims more self-aware. Maybe MORE interested in the vision of a revived Islam, if any thing at all.

actually I know some of his relatives; they're from KUnarh and Laghman, the claim he is Iranian is due to Iranian forged documents.

So his ideas are impractical but trying to transplant Imperial Hegemony to supplant the Islamic values of KP is practical? lol
