  • Philippe Rushton View of Muslims

    J. Phillip Rushton had been cited in another thread on Women testomony in Islam to back the position that women are intellectually inferior so their status in Islam is justified. Here are his views about Muslims.

"Rushton spoke at the Preserving Western Civilization conference in Baltimore in February 2009, organized by Michael H. Hart to address the need to defend "America’s Judeo-Christian heritage and European identity" from immigrants, Muslims, and African Americans.[21][22] In his speech, Rushton contended that Islam was not just a cultural, but also a genetic problem. According to Rushton, the Muslim problem is not just a condition of their particular belief system. Instead, he argued that Muslims have an aggressive personality with relatively closed, simple minds, and are less impervious to reason than one might expect.[23] The Anti-Defamation League describe the conference as being attended by "racist academics, conservative pundits and anti-immigrant activists [24]."

The discoverer of DNA was also once cited as saying similar things; This does not discredit his discovery or research however. In fact it discredits the objectivity of the community that attempts at discrediting someone on these terms; as this is clearly motivated by politicization.

Fury at DNA pioneer's theory: Africans are less intelligent than Westerners - Science, News - The Independent

Question; in discourses with you I notice you use very typical False Logical Appeals; usually revolving around Theatrical Terminology or imagery (medieval, cave dwelling etc etc)l, ad-hominems or genetic fallacies.

If you're a champion of intellectual development; why do you employ these measures in the discourse?

That may be the case but it is unethical and unobjective (as well as atypical)of a true scientist to make absolutist-racist pronouncements on a forum that stands for racist agenda on the basis of something not yet deeply and properly understood. Then there is more to it i.e., using the same methodology as he used to compare sex intelligence to prove the inferiority of non-Europeans to Europeans .

You are a strange fellow employing vagueness to push in your point e.g., what does this greater rational tendency in men mean by the way (foremost what is this rational tendency)...? In Science, you don't use things which cannot be objectively defined/quantified or at least statistically measured....Obscure, layman notions that have roots more in superstition or belief than objectivity don't work in science or other academic approaches...

Can you cite practical situations where women have persistantly displayed irrational behavior relative to men ... what empirical results have been obtained that support this view ... what experiments have been carried out?

As to my definition of rational in the other thread let me explain a bit that, a behaviour will be rational when at any step of the problem-solving, the next move is made such that the chances to reach the goal are enhanced (optimized)....

Anyhow, this may be imprecise because problems are varied and complex.

I am bringing the point home that as Rushton is not right on Muslims, so also is he not right on women. The other fellow probably wants to say that Rushton is right on women but not right on Muslims ...Moreover, it was he who mentioned him...

I daily say prayers and read Quran...

You should have a little bit tolerance ... no need to be ultra-sensitive...actually when you bring religion into politics, it becomes controversial because politics concerns with worldy problems on which all people might not have religious perspective...that is why we say keep religion out...limit it to mosques and spirituality...

grow-up man---some day you may do something in the country where you are living that would not only bring bad name to your family but would also put the Muslim community over there in a further difficult position...

grow-up, read a lot, see, observe, experience...and keep away from Mullahs at this age...

Regardless of this persons achievments, to the normal intellectual its easy to see that his claim is outrageously ludicrous, as though once a clever and rational human being converts to islam then the next day he will become aggressive and his once open mind to reject the belief of his peers has now become 'close minded', one day your a pioneer in human embryology and the next you convert to islam and suddently become 'simple mided'..everybody knows the educational achievments of arabs throughout history AFTER becoming muslim, surely this would mean its the opposite of what this rushton character claims.

This is a weak point as one of his arguments is based on research and the other isn't.

Being one on one thing cannot make someone wrong an another thing automatically; Logic just does not work that way.

We only refer to points which has evidentiary support; not ones which do not.

It's sad that you do not seem to follow your own advice as the gross illogical basis of many of your arguments demonstrates.

Sohail Ahamd Shayana, as I see you in your avatar, you seem to me a young man with impressionable mind...I suggested to you what I would like for my own brother i.e., an educated, cool-minded person with knowledge and foresight....that could help Pashtuns as well as Muslims...

Anyhow, it is every body's own choice...If you think your thinking is or choice is right, go ahead...

By the way, I have the feelings that this Edge has tried to pitch you against me but I may be wrong...
